I'm just trying to attempt a OCC, but what I'd like to know is what is the aim of the OCC. Do you try and get spaceships first? Also, with the OCC, can you ever attack an enemy city?. Is there a way of emptying out a city after taking it over?

There are strict guidelines/rules to OCC, but honestly, do it how you want to. I would think Space is the aim, but you COULD poison a city down to 1 pop point and then attack and destroy the city, no?

You can destroy cities, but it's not something you would normally do as part of an OCC game. The wars you get in are usually defensive in nature.

I suggest you look at what is commonly known as the Paulicy. It explains the concept of OCC, as well as a pretty darn good guide of how to do it. There have been some minor variations on how to do it since that was written, but if you follow that guide, you have a very good chance of winning.

Yes it is done at deity.

The basic aim is to win by spaceship with 1,and only ever 1,city.Attacking is feasible, but generally a peaceful approach devoting everything to trade and science is the way.

Thanks to all for their advice on OCCs, especially TimTheEnchanter. Just finished my first OCC game and won before 1900AD. I know thats crap, but for my first game, I'm pretty happy.

Thats alot better than my first OCC game which ended miserably in failure :D

I did OCC in Civ2 once (the second time I played Civ2) but unfortunately was beaten in the spacerace......by time (it was 2060 if I recall correctly)

Don't thank me, thank Paul and all the others who's knowledge went into that guide! I just know where to find it.

OCC is a excellent alternative to the "normal" end game tedium of the classic large empire game. In fact, I just came from a thread on the HOF and suggested there could be a OCC category. Plus, in another thread yesterday, I "volunteered" Smash to make a good OCC for civers each month, LOL (Smash is probably the best CFC OCC expert).
