So what kind of jobs would Iraqis be having in the post-war Iraq. . Seems like, if I was there, I wouldn't want to get a job if I can just loot all day. Also a lot of people there were unemployed before the war, because they didn't want the low paying jobs, so those jobs went to seasonal workers from other countries. (just a side note)

There wouldn't be jobs. All the innocent people are killed or injured, the only place with jobs, (probably) are the hospital and government.

Do you know what they would do to you under islamic law if they found you looting?

I expect a lot of Iraqi's to be employed inthe rebuilding - doing the manual labour bits. A lot of construction work, with buildings, roads, oil field construction etc.

Well, that sounds like an informed opinion, that adds lots to the discussion.

Getting the utilities and the oil production running has been a big factor in the job market. Once things are running smoothly, the maintainence jobs can be hired out. As in any country, many jobs are in moving and selling goods. Then there is construction and pupblic works. This is where the terrorists are causing problems. New road construction is very difficult because of sniping, for example. We hear about American soldiers getting killed. What we are not hearing is about the Iraqi civilians that are falling victim.

Of course the problem in a lot of cases is training. Hospitals require bedpan cleaners as well as doctors, but a country is not built on orderlies. Schools require teachers. Utilities require engineers.

A few days ago there was a demonstration by about 1000 people in Bhagdad in supportt of the military personnel keeping some sort of order. People dismissed an exhibition of a 1000 people in a city of two million. Consider that the demostrations in London, supposedly 100,000, but actaully far less, were orchestrated by professionals. In London there is a tradition of political demostration. Also in London the neighbors do not have grenade launchers, assault rifles and a proven willingness to use them.
