    This is the land where our Eighth city will be.

    We need location ideas and a name for the city.

    Also, be sure to suggest a city name, because I think our list of suggested names has been exausted.

    Settling on the warrior is one option - it makes the best use of the terrain but we miss out on the gold.

    One south gets us gold but we lose a plains hill and a grassland forest hill. It also shares more tiles with Atyran.

    One west losses a plans hill and a plains forest and picks up gold and a grasslands hill. It also shares a few less tiles with Atyran. I think this is the best option. It also may let us peak over the mountain range sooner - which could be helpful.

    I agree that the square SW of the corn is the best choice. It will also give us another way to get the 5:commerce: from the fur without the Atyrau having to work it.

    I like 1SW of corn - there are quite a few grassland hill tiles in the BFC and with windmills the city can get to a decent size.

    What's Kazakh for "Eight"?

    Counting Kazakh style...
    0 = нөл
    1 = бір
    2 = екі
    3 = үш
    4 = төрт
    5 = бес
    6 = алты
    7 = жеті
    8 = сегіз
    9 = тоғыз
    10 = он

    Anyone know how to pronounce?

    That spot only gains one grassland tile over the spot 1E of it but it misses gold and 2 grass hills (including the tile the city would be on).

    On warrior has

    3 grass hills
    4 plains hills
    3 plains
    3 grassland (2 shared)
    1 corn
    fur and tundra hill (shared)

    Total - 16 tiles (4 shared)

    1E has
    5 grass hills
    3 plains hills
    1 gold hill
    1 plains
    2 grassland (1 shared)
    1 corn
    fur (shared)

    Total 14 tiles (2 shared)

    Pre bilogy (with irrigation)

    warrior city wil be able to work
    1 corn
    3 grass hills
    3 plains hills
    3 plains
    3 grassland (1 cottage 2 farm)

    Total base hammers - 25

    1E City will be able to work
    1 corn
    5 grass hills
    1 gold hill
    1 plains
    2 grassland (1 cottage 1 farm)

    Total base hammers - 20

    After biology (with rails)

    warrior city wil be able to work
    1 corn
    3 grass hills
    4 plains hills
    3 plains
    3 grassland (1 cottage 2 farm)
    1 tundra hill

    Total base hammers - 39

    1E City will be able to work
    1 corn
    5 grass hills
    1 gold hill
    1 plains hill
    1 plains
    2 grassland (1 cottage 1 farm)

    Total base hammers - 30

    So on warrior is a better production city, but loses the gold...

    We should build our next city 1E of the corn, this maximizes the use of our total land.

    We can then build another city on the coastline between the furs and gold. This city wouldn't be great but with the whale, a grassland farm and goldmine it would be a viable city- it would have 2 surplus :food: to grow and work coastals/windmills and would pay for its upkeep with the goal yield (and it gets the whale which we wouldn't be getting otherwise).

    I'm not keen on 1E of corn as it blocks getting irrigation to the corn :(

    Interesting idea. I think I may have to support that idea actually.

    Cav scout's idea isn't bad :)

    I agree with suggestion for 2nd spot (1E of Gold) but how about the 1st city actually goes 2E of corn?

    Advantages:
    * extra hammer from plains hill
    * extra forest to chop
    * slightly closer for maintenance
    * loses one grassland hill but gains one on the river (ie +2:commerce: with windmill)

    Disadvantages:
    * needs border pop to get Corn

    I like 2E of Corn :)king:'s idea) so that we can build another city to get the Gold (and maybe the Whale too).

    I still think 1E of the corn is a bit better- much less overlap with other cities, more tiles in the bfc (grassy knoll 2 in the NW for instance) and corn starts out in the small radius.

    it actually only has 1 more tile that's not in the BFC of other cities. It has the grassy hill and plain hill in NW, but not the river grass hill in E. So on aggregate it only gains one plain hill from being 1E of corn, and it's already got more plains hills that it will likely be able to work. So the only advantage of 1E of corn I can see is having corn in small cross, ie getting it 1 turns earlier.

    Either way, I think most of us are in agreement that we should try to squeeze in TWO cities as opposed to one correct?

    We will need more cities to win the war of attrition with SANCTA. Didn't Memphus say that they had 9 or 10 cities?

    They have 10 cities. We can see what they are in game via the diplo screen

    On the grassland hill where our warrior is is the best short term and long term spot. Spoiling this spot to fit one more crap city is not worth it IMO.

    I thought that we were building a settler, maybe that screnshot was in my dreams... If we d have a settler coming, we need to decide where the city is going still.

    I want either:

    1. A city on the plains square that gets the corn and gold, or;
    2. Two cities... one that get the corn, and one that gets the gold and the whale.

    Is there a settler coming soon or not?
