Today, when my friend tried to send me a file over aim it kept disconnecting us. I realized I needed the new AIM vr. 5.5. Anyway I dled and then when I tried to install it at the end it says:

Error Starting Program
A required .DLL file, C:\\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\MSVCRT40.DLL, was not found.

and another one saying:

C:\PROGRA~1\AIM\AOLOND~1.EXE
Windows cannot find 'C:\PROGRA~1\AIM\AOLOND~1.EXE'. You may have typed the name incorrectly in the Run dialog box, or another open program cannot find a system file. To search for a file, click the Start button, and then click search.

It then shut down b4 completling it. I run aim and its completly different as it no longer had the Dead AIM program running with it. I tried reinstalling dead aim no good. I tried uninstalling aim, it didnt work. So I searched and found the uninstall prg myself and unistalled it. Now I can't even get AIM to install, all I get is those 2 messages.

Any help would be greatly appriciated. Thanks in advance.

Oh you broke it! Kidding of course, hopefully. But as should be known to most Deadaim users, the new versions of AIM are not compatable. I would try installing an older version of AIM to see if it will let you. You can get older versions of AIM from www.oldversion.com . If it doesn't work (even if it does) you may be better off with Trillian which can be gotten from www.trillian.cc

Thanks Cedric, I got it working again with an older version. Just got to upload dead AIM again.
