I was playing X-Com on my old Dos machine the other day and plopped my mug down in the mug holder I have in my 5.25" bay and it hit me that this is a very goofy add-on I got last year. I'm just curious what oddities other folks have put on their machines.

My neato mug holder/cigarette lighter.

for a second i thought it was gonna be your cd-rom, i was thinking to my self, oh god, he's not that stupis is he? seriously though, cool find

i saw a 486 be made indo a BBQ before

weirdest things ive seen were a brown fuzzy monitor cover, shaped like a mooses head, complete with horns!

also ive seen some site sell small paperboxes that look like miniature doghouses, with "mousehouse" printed on them, i think that one was for charity.

sorry, i have no pics, long time since i saw them.

Macs <--- :D

A human user, I've never understood why they insist on using them no matter what quality they are! Especialy as the quality can be very bad and faulty Human Users components. Some of them are so faulty they screw up the system! The wierd part is some of them improve in performance after awhile via upgrades.

----------------- You shouldn't be playnig at work anyways.

From that site:
(C) himp
(H) as
(I) nvincible
(M) onkey
(P) owers

When you are playing Quake on the local LAN against the support desk staff you need all the help you can get. C.H.I.M.P is an early warning system that will clue you in on when to Alt-Tab back to your spreadsheet when your boss suddenly appears.

----------- Admittedly kind of cool, if useless.
Remove Those Unsightly Manufacturer Case Badges!

And replace them with one of these puppies. These are standard sized 1" x 1" domed badges that can easily replace your current boring badges

--------- Why? You already have one on your computer! And there are many CORDLESS calculators!
42 + 1295 = 1337

This handy USB Calculator has a secret identity. By day it's a standard (but stylish) fully functioning battery powered calculator with LCD display. But under cover of darkness... it plugs into the USB port on your PC or laptop and becomes an all powerful numeric keypad.

--------------------- Yeah, not very practical.
Just how hot is that CPU... Once you play with this neat gadget, you will probably find yourself checking the surface temperature of everything in sight. Simply squeeze the trigger and an instant reading, based on infra-red emissions, appears on the backlit display. With a temperature range of 0 to 500 degrees Fahrenheit, you can check the temperature of that overclocked chip you have running in your case. Also check your oven, refrigerator, heater, AC, fish tank, wine cellar, and so on. Accuracy of +/- 2 percent. Selectable in Celsius or Fahrenheit readings.
The MiniTemp includes a backlit display and a laser pointer to assist in sighting your target. The MiniTemp is perfect for overclockers, gadget freaks and home improvement do-it-yourselfers. Use it to spot costly energy losses around windows, doors, and to monitor temperatures around the house and workshop. It's fast, fun and easy to use.
Suggested Applications:
  • Overclocking
  • Home improvement
  • Do-it-yourself projects
  • Energy savings
  • Hobbies
