Hi all,

I've released a simple mod that turns the hex grid off every time you start a new game, load a save enter or enter a new age. Not only for the default view, but also for the settler lens, the continent lens, the trade lens used by merchants and the lenses created by mods. You can still manually toggle the hex grid on (and off again).

This will turn the grid off for lenses created by the following mods, if you have any of these installed:

I always disliked the grid and have been turning it off in Civ for decades. I thought I was the only one playing without the grid, since screenshots and videos online always seem to have the grid on. So I made this just for myself a few weeks ago, but never published it. Then I saw this thread where about 50% said to play without the grid as well. And another mod was published recently to turn the grid off, but that one only works for the default view and not all the lenses. So here is my mod, in case someone else want to play fully "off the grid" as well.

Mods that force a refresh of the UI might undo the effects of this mod for the rest of the session, bringing the grid back on. The only mod I know that does this is nasuellia-alt-unit-flags-and-bars since todays update. I don't think I'll try to fix it, as it's a bit of an edge case.

Edit: I changed my mind and fixed it anyway

Finwickle updated Off The Grid with a new update entry:

2.0 Rewritten to work on all modded lenses, current and future; now re-applies after UI reload

Rewritten to work on all lenses added by current and future mods. It does no longer need an update when someone creates a new lens mod.
The hex grid will now also be disabled again after a UI reloads, for instance when changing certain graphic settings.

Special thanks to @beezany and @wltk for patiently explaning Javascript code to me.
