This is a dedicated, non-focused thread on whatever strikes your fancy. Not quite an Off-Topic thread, it is designed as a place for comments and questions about the game and each other (serious and other wise!).

Welcome to Team FREE Black_Hole and admiral-bell and Elephantium.

As you can see, we have elections underway for TurnPlayer, Military, Domestic and Foreign Warmbodies.

Self nomination is acceptable.

And while it is dry reading, you might want to check out the 'What We've Done So Far (Pregame)' thread, just to see what has transpired so far in the life of Team FREE.

If an office is open for nominations, and no one is nominated, is that position left empty, is some appointed (drafted) to fill that role by the duly-elected Turn Player or does the Turn Player get stuck with it?

It would be best if someone volunteered to be in each unfilled position, since I (assuming I become TP) would not have the time to do everything.

I was thinking that for the first twenty turns, since not much is demanded of the offices, that we(the team)/you (apparent Turn Player) might draft some of our less talkative team members into any vacant positions and give them a chance to become more active in the team's game.

Those of us that are chatty are going to speak our minds anyway (even when it is empty), whether we have an office or not.

This is what vikingruler posted >>HERE<<.

Domestic Advisor- Controls cities: Build queues, production, city micro-managment, lux slider, etc...

It looks like nominations are over and our first elected officals are:

Turn Player: azzaman333
Domestic: Kuningas
Military: vikingruler
Foreign: (open)

Their term will be from Turn 0 to the end of Turn 20 (or is it to the end ofTurn 19, with new elections/officals taking control on Turn 20? )

We have leaders!

Turn 20 is the last day of the term and by then new officials should have already been elected. I guess we should start nominations for the new turn maybe 10 turns before the end of the current term.

So the new terms will begin on Turn 21, 41, 61, etc..?

Which means the first term is for 21 turns (due to Turn 0).

I'm not trying to be picky (I feel like I am being picky) but just want to know that we are talking about the same thing. :D

Thank you, thank you. It is an honor and a privilege to be added to this august body... ;)

So, what happens next?

Well, right now the map is being created by Rik Meleet. From reading the common threads, I don't think the map will be ready until around Christmas.

So, not a whole lot to do right now. Most of the pregame stuff is done. We're just in a holding pattern until we can really play.

We do have ongoing discussions about our team info and motto.

Right, each term is 20 turns. However, do you guys think 20 turns will be long enough for officials to get things done? In the early stages of the game, turns go by very quickly and with so few units and cities we might want to increase the term length. At least for the first few terms. btw, not to insult you CommandoBob, but I'm not sure if we have discussed term length yet.

..but I'm not sure if we have discussed term length yet.
You're right; we haven't. I guess I just assumed the term limit would be 20 turns.
And you're also right that 20 turns in the early game is not a very active term.

What if we went with staggered terms. Say 50 for the first term and then 25 from then on?

Okay, that sounds good. This way the officers for the first term can really get their plans going. Like for instance, me being the military adviser, 50 turns would allow me ample time to explore a lot of land, 20 turns wouldn't have. However, we need to get more people to approve this. I could set up a poll.

I added the poll results and our first term officials to the What We've Done so Far (PreGame) thread.

Victory
How do we want to win?

Not how do we want to play the others, but how do we want to win. UN, space, cultural, conquest, 20K city...whatever.

In a solo game I tend to fumble around in AA with no true game plan on how to win. And that is fine for me in a solo game. I don't think it works here.

And yeah, for most victory conditions our early decisions won't really matter, but at some point they will. And we might have to change how we plan to win due to the game itself. Perfectly acceptable.

I just think that even in the early turns it would be good to know how we want to win. Or at least, how we don't want to win.
