The king unit is still under development, so soon we'll be delivering the Brazilian king unit for Regicide games.

Two modpacks are available for download:
- Full (9 MB): Animated leaderhead, all unit animations, full Civilopedia entries for Brazil and UU Bandeirante.
- Lite (1.2 MB): Without leaderhead animation.

Only for Civ3 Conquests. In the future we will be developing the Civ3 Vanilla & PTW version, in which the Agricultural trait is replaced by Expansionist.

Expand your Civ! Have fun with the Brazilian civilization!
Download it now!

nice work... i love the unit. it's so nice to have the Brazilian civ.... south america has been completely underepresented in Civ III

Oops, forgot to say: the Bandeirante also enslaves. After all he hunted indigenous natives to enslave into workers.

Great work, but I disagree in two aspects.

The first one is the possibility to create bandeirantes without gunpowder. The unit even in the animation shots from a rifle.

The second point I disagree is the order of cities foundation, that is not historically accurate. Something like Salvador, Rio de Janeiro, Recife, São Paulo, Porto Alegre... would be more adequate.

@ Eduardo:

Since you understand my language :D, you can go to C3B forum and check the Brazilian civ forum. That's exactly the reason the civ took 1 year to be ready: we discussed how to keep historical accuracy together with viable strategic gameplay on C3C.

We discussed about the gunpowder. And what happens is that although the bandeirante carried fireguns, they were the least used weapon they had. They mostly used knives, cutlasses and weapons like this. The reason was because Brazil was still on its early occupation and colonisation period, and the supply of gunpowder would come all from Europe, so gunpowder was rarely available to the bandeirantes.

However the historical "image" that we have from him (even in history books) is that guy with hat and musket. They used muskets, but not in a large scale. Also, the withdrawal of gunpowder as requirement compensates some of the weak points of the bandeirante, because it's not strictly an attack unit. The bandeirante would be more or less of a "rival" for the Spanish UU conquistador, but with enslavement.

About the city foundation order: we all know that the first Brazilian city was Sao Sebastiao, and Salvador was the first capital. But after the discussions we decided to follow the model of the American civ, where the city name order is given by comparing city importance, population and then age of foundation.

The same way you don't see Philadelphia or Jamestown before Washington in the game (Jamestown doesn't even appear in the list :D), you don't see Salvador, Sao Vicente or Sao Sebastiao before Brasilia, SP or Rio.

I hope you understand our reasons, and further doubts about the decisions we took when developing the Brazilian civ, have a check on the Civ3 Brazilian forum, accessing the link in my signature below.

Cheers.
