I was watching CNN today then I see the announcer say something about "speaking with black America". Ok... so there are still two Americas, I thought that Martin Luther Kind Jr. wanted to get rid of two Americas. So I am not part of regular America, I get to be part of (insert race here) America?
Does that mean that my friends are in Chinese America? Why do you always have to mention someone's race when you mention a successful black person? It pisses me off when my teacher introduces a writer like "This poem was made by Langston Hughes, a black poet." Does his race really matter? So if I hear one of Pete Seeger's civil rights songs do I need to know his race, or does he need to be introduced as white before I get any wrong opinions?
