    Meanwhile Arizonans rejoice.

    http://www.cnn.com/2010/POLITICS/04/27/oklahoma.abortion/

    Summary by CNN:
    # One law requires ultrasound, listening to description before an abortion
    # Center for Reproductive Rights says it had filed a lawsuit challenging the new law
    # Other law protects doctors who withhold data or give inaccurate information about pregnancies
    # Laws' critics cite privacy, negligence issues; backers say the people have spoken

Seriously? Doctors can withhold vital information on pregnancies at their discretion?? No exceptions concerning rape/incest??? WHAT THE :mad::mad::mad:????

You know what, it's their state. They can do with it as they please. I'm not going to even muster fake outrage. I think it's silly for men to even discuss abortion.

Apparently, I'm the only one outraged by this. I guess I can be comforted by the fact the OK is a worthless godforsaken wasteland and anyone with any sense has left long ago. And to think it used to be a socialist bastion a century ago.

A man wanted a child. She provoked him into raping her.

She does not deserve an abortion.

I like the thought of people without medical training legislating how medical procedures must be preformed.

I like the thought of doctors emotionally badgering their patients into possible depression and suicide, or just retaining information so that mothers carry their little anencephalic/harlequin miracles to term .

Baby steps...baby steps... someday this abomination will be totally banned, but in the meantime I guess I should be happy for anything that might make it more restrictive.

Doctors allowed to lie in order to discourage abortions?

Well fine, but what are they doing to prevent the murder of billions of sperm everyday in America?

The most offensive aspect to me is that it assumes that women can't make the decision responsibly on their own. It assumes that they won't get all the "information" that the Oklahoma legislature has decided are necessary for a woman to exercise her constitutional right to terminate her pregnancy.

Wouldn't those 2 bills cancel each other out?

You have to shove a device up her hoo-haa and tell her all about it, but you can also lie and/or withhold any information you don't want to give.

Presumably the physicians who mislead their patients would still violate some professional standard and could have their licenses revoked by a professional body, right? Nanocyborgasm here?

South Dakota is already the Coathanger state for their attempts to ban abortion. What do we call Oklahoma?

A family member of mine is an ultrasound tech and she's appalled by this law.

Fun fact: many ultrasound clinics in major cities these days refuse to provide the sex of the baby because there are a number of minority cultures who will abort if the fetus isn't a boy and they don't already have (enough) sons.

Most definitely. Though the patient would at some point have to realize the extent to which they were mislead.

Actually, it is probable that the philosophical re-alignment which occurs following the development of strong AI will render the issue of abortion moot in the long run. Defining "personhood" by cognition, rather than DNA, would completely undermine the only logically consistent argument for banning abortion.
