I remember when that would've been a damn fine computer to own, even if it was a Tandy.

Oh ya, a great machine there . . . reminds me of my parents old 386, or the 200 Mhz at school. Those things are CRAP!!!

Oh my my I am getting old. The first computer games I played were text driven games because the monitors had no graphic capability. First PC (and i use the term with some sarcasm) had no ROM memory just the basic 640K DOS memory. so any game programs (or any programs for that matter) had to have their own OS boot files as well as the program .exe file all on an 5.25 inch floppy. As well when I got my first email address in 1982 the transfer "speed" of the network modem was 12 baud. You could literally leave your computer go for in the university cafeteria come back in 15 - 20 minutes and it would still be sending out an one page text file. So the old axiom still holds true even with "crap" 200MHz 'puters One man 's garbage is another man's treasure.

@Radaghast - the price is that $ ?

If so imagine how many 3ghz PC's u could buy today!!!

Look how much we have achieved in 15 years. :eek: Seem rather funny to call that computer primitive.

Your parents? Mine own first (okay a christams present) computer was 386 and I am seventeen. I still think of 1Gb Hmz as something unthinkable huge... And actualy if you simply work you do not need anything much fancier.

Anyone ever own one of these?
(kicked ass on Coleco vision :P )

Ok, ok so I"m really old but my first computer was an IBM superbrain 8088, dual 5 1/4 floppy drives, 64k ram, 4 mghz, HD?? ha!! what's a hard drive?, black screen white text, no graphics.
C/PM operating system (pre-DOS)

I say this interesting ad in a money magizine about how much inflation was projected to increase from i belive 1969 to now and how much it actually is. And for computers it was supposed to be like 100s of dollars per MB i think, but in reality its less than 10 cents. Got to find that article.

i was a bit to young to remember much of this, but I do remember the Coleco Vision along with the Atari. Needless to say, my dad kept the Coleco and gave me the Atari. I still have it to this day.

My first computer was the all powerful Commodore64. The CPU was in the keyboard! I remember how awesome it was to get our first full color monitor (rather than the "greenscreen"). That had some awesome games. My grandmother bought it for my family so us kids could get a "head start in the computer age."

I had an Atari 2600 20 years ago. That started a very bad habit that I still do to this day though. Would love to get one as I collect consoles but I haven't seen any decks older than a NES/Sega Master System in the shops.

My first computer was a TI 99/4a. Four whopping K of RAM, and a cassette deck for data storage. I remember being SO psyched when I first used a floppy drive and could actually save or load a program by name instead of forwarding/rewinding to the right spot on the tape and hitting the Record or Play buttons.
