Old Japanese man is immortal and atom bomb proof survives both Hiroshima and Nagasaki

Miso perhaps?

I'm curious as to the guy's feelings about the attacks & his sentiments towards the US.

I imagine at the age he's at he's probably long since forgiven. If he held bitterness is his heart he probably wouldn't live so long (unless he's driven by revenge of some sort & his plan is not yet ready :D).
Vengeance is like a fine wine, best aged to perfection.

You know what's ironic? Small fission bombs actually kill more people with radiation than by other effects (thermal effects, blast effects).

That's only because of their size. Smaller yield does equate to less thermal effects and less blast damage. But it also equates to less radiation as well. However, over the long term you are correct. The deaths due to radiation will eventually outpace the other causes because it will be more widespread.

Contemporary bombs have greater yield, so the radiation is less of a problem.

No, not at all. The resulting radiation cloud is much larger and much more widespread. It is also part of why many experts think that if a sufficient number were to be detonated that it would effectively end human life on this planet, regardless of where you were located. The other aspect is nuclear winter, of course:

so, do you still stand by your allegation that this one incident proves that nuclear weapons arent as bad as people think them to be?

This guy and Dr. Manhattan probably had a showdown in Vietnam.

What a terrible conversation they must have had, dull, slow and boring. Talking about things that don't matter, blowing each other up only to reform and do it again. Worst stalemate ever.

No one can top this guy's story in a tough-man argument in a bar.

"Oh, so you killed a lion with your bare hands? How quaint. :coffee: I survived being nuked. Twice. In the same week." :dubious:

:lol::lol:

I can even imagine how those tough-man arguments after WWII would be:

"So you survived the battle of Midway, managed to survive four close encounters with American ships and you even survived Kamizake Duty? Pretty good. I was on Hiroshima and I survived... And then I came to Nagasaki, and it was nuked. I think the Yankees just hated my guts, man. And all I got for that was some mid pains and governament pension."

"So you were there on the trench-battles of WW1, Old German Guy? Pretty good, pretty badass. I was on the TWO cities that the yankees nuked. How about that?"

If any WW2 Japanese pilot survived Kamikaze duty it would be the most shameful moment of his life, and he will never brag about it. (He had failed in his mission!) Most likely he'll be making up a whole new backstory assigning himself to a munitions factory throughout the war in order to hide up that fact.

I don't know if he is one of the luckiest people ever, or one of the least lucky.

Clearly he had terrible luck to be in both places, but he had amazingly good luck to survive both (I believe an article said he had serious burns from the Hiroshima, but I can't recall any reports of injuries in Nagasaki.

Anyway, talk about bad luck - being in a city that gets nuked is bad, but experiencing this twice... I wonder what he was thinking the second time.
I am thinking something like: "Run" or "Oh my God", but in a form that the Japanese would say.

Allegation

Ralph, this is not a court martial :p I just took a jab at some people, who believe that nuclear bombs are black magic ("nukes, oh noes, we're all gonna die!").

If you wan't to blow this out of proportions, find somebody else.

What people? Where are they?

Truman: "So.. how are we going to know where to drop the bombs?"
General: "The bombs have been programmed to follow strategically placed tracking devices, Mr. President"
Truman: "Tracking devices?"
General: "Yeah.. They're planted on two unsuspecting Japanese citizens"
Sargeant: "Sorry to interrupt sir. Did you just say two unsuspecting Japanese citizens?"
General: "That's right."
Sargeant: "Uhh... Sir?"
General: "Yeah?"
Sargeant: "... We kinda planted both of them on the same guy"
General: "What!?!?"
Sargeant: "It's all Johnson's fault, sir"
General: "Goddamit"
Truman: "Well, whatever, let's do this anyway"

Tracking devices couldn't be that good, he survived them both.

It kinda proves that nuclear weapons are not doomsday weapons.

;)

WERE not, the ones even 10 years later were many times stronger, little alone compared to the bombs we have now..

Uh, it was 1945 dude...of course tracking devices aren't that good. Plus, they're Americans. All of their tech sucks.

Including A-bombs, since so many people survived.

They should have just bought it from the Japanese

One or two nukes exploding isn't the end of the world, the would be more devastating that Fat Man or Little Boy, but people would survive.
A single nuke only becomes a doomsday weapon when someone with a lot of nukes thinks it is pointed at them, resulting in a strategic nuclear exchange.
