Hello everyone. To make a long story short, I have been away from Civ for a while because my old comp couldn't run it. However I just got a new laptop and Civ runs like a dream. I just picked up BTS and have put in a little time. I just started a new game and need some help. I always start out my games well but as the game goes on, I start to fall behind. Last game I over-expanded and my economy pretty much died. I would like some advice on what you next major moves/goals would be with the game I have posted. Hopefully with your advice I can get a little better.

the biggest thing that you need to do is build cottages...i dont see any cottages that u have made in your game...you allready have enough food resources from the fish, clam, cows wheat and other food resources but the reason your technology is so behind is because you dont have any cottages...

i am a terribad player so take my advice with a shotglass full of salt, but...

you are about to get sandwitched by cultural orders. your west is already closed off and your east is soon to be. you are the lucky owner of a copper resource, i'd get that online ASAP and decide which of your two neighbors needs to donate a couple cities to you, at the request of a stack of 10 axemen :)

the cottages comment is spot on, to be fair you should've probably already had a couple up

Okay... so more cottages... I also agree with the expansion bit... shaka is gonna be getting a nice gift soon... thanks

Here's my advice;

1.) You're building too many roads in the Ancient Era. At that time, save some time and build them only to connect resources and cities. Farms and mines don't need them.

2.) While you're getting all the early techs quickly, in reality, you're slacking behind. When AI civs get alphabet while you're stuck in Ancient or ealry Classical, the game is over. Well, not really, but you'll have a hard time catching up since none of the civs will trade for your now worthless techs.

2a.) Also try beelining for certain tech important to you. You have budhism and your civ is spiritual so Monotheism is important. It enables organized religion and helps you build up your religious buildings quickly.

3.) Increase your science rate, you got 92 gold which in account for inflation is 500 bajillion dollars in the current era. Also, the 5 turn difference in the early era is very important, even on Marathon.

4.) Build the libraries and temples but chop some trees while you're at it, the Ents can go rub two sticks together for all I care.

5.) You're military weak, those archers will not be able to defend against a fully armed and operation army. You should always dedicate a city to pump out more units.

6.) Those granaries are a waste of time if you have plenty of food. Save them for late classical or for malnourished cities.

7.) Take advantage of the Imperialistic trait early, work in some of the forest and use the hammers to crank out the settlers faster. THe 50% bonus only applies to the hammers, not food.

8.) More of a tip but don't hang around in slavery. Spiritual don't suffer anarchy so switch back to tribalism after the wait period because those slave revolts can be devastating if they happen in your productive cities.
