Mohawk Games has today revealed the next upcoming DLC for Old World, this time titled "Wrath Of Gods".
This DLC will come with Aksum as a new civ, will introduce 9 different natural disasters to the game, a new scenario and more than 200 new events.
The expected release date is March 3 2025.
For more info please check the Steam page here.

I'm really intrigued by the scenario as well as Aksum.

At this point, I'm slightly cautious about extra mechanics for a base game that seems close to perfect right now. Of course, I can always disable the expansions, but I keep forgetting because that option is hidden at the end of a very rich setup menu. ;)

I have faith in Soren Johnson though! He is such a reflected and thorough game designer. Having said that, the game is close to perfect and don't really need anything. However... I'm getting this! :)

only recently played this game and its quite playable. its needs a new world dlc and future eras which would make it alot beter than civ 6. but i suspect there would be a conflict of interest with 2k so i wont hold my breath.

As a matter of personal preference, a new world and futures eras would make no sense at all to me in this game.

"New World" would, of course, be a fine title for any game set in the exploration era, but after "Off World" and "Old World", I'd put my money on "Odd World". :)

what i meant by new world is the discovery of the americas and the era of muskets, cannons and frigates. kind of old world meets new world. the game wouldnt loose its name.

Always happy to see more expansions to one of my favourite games. Will disasters confer some advantages? Will they interplay with improvements and units? For example, will farms placed on volcanic land be more fertile, and will units caught in droughts etc. suffer? I wonder how these disasters will impact the greater strategy, or if they will just be "oh, that happened" type events.

Calamities occur and are always inherently disastrous in nature. However, the event system that Old World uses will interplay with the occurrences and present the player with potential rewards or options in response to calamities.

An example shown on stream was that before the onset of a plague, the player had the ability to choose to try and research the disease more or ignore it.

The researching the plague not only lessened the effects of the plague slightly in the empire, it also came with a science boost to the player.

The plague itself still does what the plague does, but the event system delivered the opportunity for a player to gain some advantage that way.

Yes, calamities will often come with a silver lining. Sure, an earthquake will generally do more damage more than you'd like, but maybe you gain some legitimacy for guiding your nation through a disaster, or maybe people come together and produce more than usual, etc. Sometimes you'll have a "this happened, deal with it" situation but more often you'll have options on how to respond, or some kind of bonus for getting through it.
