OMG i have to much culture

Hi,

I was going for my first time victory, when i looked at the victory condition screen i noticed i have 32 more turns for my 3th city reaching legendary. I still have 150 turns to go.

Is there anyway i can reduce culture or use somekind of exploit to negate this victory? I already changed from free speech to nationhood... but that does not make nearly enough difference.

Playing hof btw, so i need a hof legit way :D.
 
Mhhh... what about:

-self-nuke your 3rd legendary city (actually i dont know if its possible) with 4 tactical nukes so that all buildings are destroyed... i suspect wonders are not destroyed so you would still get the culture from them
-revolt all 5 civic trees, then religion, then repeat as i think you do not produce culture in revolts... i hope you are not SPI or have Christo Redentor !? :)

Uhm, why are you going for time victory anyway ;) It's just a feature build-in to prevent games lasting forever.
 
Go into Worldbuilder, Select that city with the Edit City Function, Reduce its culture however low you want. I recommend to 30 culture so it still has its entire BFC.

The hof has it listed as i valid victory type to score on. I'm aiming first place. Try Monarch+ time victory, it's pretty hard since you have to control the AI into not getting a victory over you :D.

Thats not valid hof way... can't even do that as i have locked the assets.


BTW sid sushi is adding 130 to culture which is more then half of total culture. Any way to get rid of it?
 
Thanks, is this the only way? Since this is going to cut in very heavy into my score :D.

Run Cereal Mills in that city and be prepared to run it in more cities, because it is likely they will push the cultural victory too.
If you didn't raze the city with the Sistine Chapel, try to give it away.

Edit: BTW, if you founded sushi in that city you can run Cereal Mills there.

Maybe even gift the near-legendary city away and take it straight back by force? That would kill the culture but preserve the score-enhancing wonders therein.

Believe it or not, most AI will not take an early settled monster city. I am pretty sure if you retake a city, all the culture remains.
 
You could empty out the defensive units and declare war on the nearest rival. Make sure there are no culture-generating specialists, too. Sometimes the gov loves artists :p

I already did that, lost me the library, theater, acedemy and maybe more buildings with culture on it.

It saved a couple of turns but not mutch. Cereal mills is a good choice, it makes sid sushi dissapear right? Need to switch to caste system and run like 15 merchants then :D.
 
Screw me, i have 16 more turns to go for time, could have had all those turns with sid sushi but hatsep just launched the space ship after i nuked all her major cities. Should have taken that last 13 pop city before entering piece again... such a long game without result :D.

To maximize your time victory's score, you should run Rep/CS and Free religion or Pacifism for the last part of the game to get future techs for more happiness, health, and to improve your score.

I have usually had to put Cereal Mills in about 8 to 12 top culture producing cities to avoid cultural victory.

I have my deity EQM Time game, so I plan to NEVER play another!:D
 
Yeah was too late for cereal, totally forgot about ethanol which i captured from america after they completed like 75% of the space ship. I left them only some pathetic islands and gifted some cities away to weak monty so i didn't get domination victory.

I had future tech 50+, lol, so didn't need more happiness from civics.
 
Madmenno, you could have razed Hatties capital. It makes the spaceship go 'Boom!'.
 
Starve your population. You need to get your commerce and population reduced ASAP. Set up your city so that you are not working as little food tiles or commerce as possible. Work only hills tiles. Go to Caste system if you are not there already and run as many worker specialists as you can. The idea is to starve your population as fast as possible. Set them to work building something, but don't complete anything. When it gets close to finished, switch to something else so that never build anything that will help the city. You should be able to starve your population down so small that you never reach legendary. I have never tried this, but I can't see how it wouldn't work.
