You're resurrecting a quite old thread. And also an old debate. Well, normally Civ1 is not considered an abandonware, that means you should not download it... And since it's still sold in stores, at low price, why won't you buy it?
Anyway, you can contact me if you really want it. I'll help you out

If i were you guys, I would buy it. It is cheap and that is the only legal way to obtain it. Plus, unless you have the manual, you will not correctly answer the little questions it asks you to make sure you don't have an illegal version. Bottom-line, just buy a legal copy of the game.

EDIT: once you get yourself a copy, head over to the Civ I GOTM thread I started on this forum and post there if you would play a Civ I GOTM.

Yeah! If you don´t know know the answers to these questions you will definitely need a manual!

What I mean is that most of us know the tech-tree in and out and even if you´ve only played Civ2 or Civ3 you should be able to answer these questions. I even remember most of the intro story, although I´ve played Civ1 last time over 5 years ago.
That was really a great, memoriable intro! Not as meaningless as in Civ2 or as short as in Civ3! IMHO the best intro of all three!!! They should have used it for Civ3!

BTW, there are also cracks available if you really are unable to answer correctly! And you won´t help Sid or Firaxis by buying it, they don´t see a cent of copies sold in these days!

Wow, now I´m lost in memories of the good old Civ1 days back on the 286. That were great times!

sorry but i just found this place for civ 1 and this thread. so just because im reviving an old thread doesn't mean im beating a dead horse. i just wanted a place to down load it. and the reason that i don't buy myself one is because there is no computer store that sells that game or any store for that matter. so i would rather download it off of the net. so sorry for upsetting you alright so don't get angry for me just finding this and trying to get a place to download it from.

Well as far as I understood the rules it is NOT allowed to post links to illegal downloads.
But this links goes to an Abandonware site with a modified Civ1 version. I don´t recognize any copyright for that, but if you insist, I´ll take away the link!
EDIT: Oh, and I have legal copies of all Civ-versions! I´m not a hacker or distributor of illegal software!

Well I found the site through an abandonware link network. Nothing there to indicate anything illegal. But I´m not sure, of course, because I´m not lawyer.
And YOU were the one to begin yelling something about the rules and illegal downloads.
I don´t have to justify myself but you were so darn quick in accusing me that I didn´t want to start any discussion here. I like this forum and I´d like to stay a little longer!
If anybody wants this links try searching for Civ1 and abandonware!
