One City, Early Conquest

Has this strategy been attempted? What would be the best way to go about it?

is it even possible? maybe not so much early conquest as just conquest.

elephantU did it in one of the gotm's, late 2006, can't remember the exact date. He went for a no city conquest, and I think it was close, but it ended up as a one city conquest.

That sounds right. Also, I think Old n Slow did it (maybe GOTM 69??) and I think he called it "Kev's strategy" (??).

I know some Poly players (Trader Vic and DaveV, IIRC) won without cities years ago. I tried it a few times, but I think it's just impossible if you start on island, or don't have good hut luck, etc.
