I researched Optics, and was rewarded by hearing Leonard Nimoy tell me that

"One doesn't discover new lands without losing sight of the shore."

Quite the opposite! Due to the increased sight across water, I immediately discover a new neighbor, without even building a boat.

Then you know what you must do... Build up a few galleys and send your troops over to slaughter them for proving Nemoy wrong.

You saw it, you've never 'discovered it' as in walking around it.

:p

Yes...The great one who played Spock must have his words heeded! Burn the Celtic Heretics with Galleys full of Tanks! (yes, its possible, I forgot to upgrade a couple galleys into transports, resulting in 2 Tanks per ship)

I do find it amusing to cite that at the only tech that provides a LoS bonus. I've discovered new lands with this tech many many times :D

Actually I feel bad for you.

Sometimes playing isolated it is not necessarily a good thing finding your neighbour too early, especially if your neighbour is an aggressor or religious freax. In your case, you run into Bourdica - an aggressor AND a religious freax  !!! Watch your back when you keep only 1 warrior each city and run pacifism.

It's OK, she's terribly backwards and can't attack me until Astronomy.

Also, I have more like TWO warriors per city (for Hereditary Rule).

So if Bourdi demands tech (and she will, considering she will have a power rating probably 3 times of yours) do you give her? You know she can't do anything at that moment, but once she has it she will bug you with a dozen of little boats.
