I recently found a pretty cool start using Henery the 8th and the Korean Civ (henery is IND/SCI where as the koreans have a UU cataput and UU university).

the point of this strat is to have one city with evey religions capitol in one city:lol: (except islam which come much too late to be relevant)

use the above civ/leader combo and bee line(the tech that gives stone henge wich is to buillt after the first warrior-then kemetism - then hinduism - priesthood- dualism(or zoroastrianism)-then mining(either build a worker or enslave on so that you have a mine or 2 to help build the oracle)-then writing(make sure to complete writng b4 you complete the oracle this will give you access to alphabet!!!!)

usually another civ will get writing first... thats fine trade with them to get agriculture and the wheel (if goody huts didnt help yo out).

once you have writng your first priority is hunting and archerty for trade.

to continue .... develope masonry next this could potentially give you stone or marble or both!!!! (combined with IND trait!!!) now you can get monotheism (now you have 4 religions in one city) also make sure to switch to prophet and hinduism as soon as possible. As this will generate a couple of great prophets that you can use to build the seat of hinduism(i say hinduism cause i like the extra 25% XP for my generals) and save the other to light bulb theology.

next pick up literature because the comp rarley goes for buhdaism

then Confusiamism-then buhdaism then pop theology. now you can grab philosophy for an amasing 8 religions in one city!!!!!. make sure to keep enough units to defend throughout... and as soon as you get alphabet from the oracle build science (this + your scientific trait should ensure you get the nessecary techs/reliogions first.

if possible build the silk road in you city

as soon as you get these relions either take one city or settle one city this is where you will build king richards crusade.

after some heavy trading (i use no tech brokering and this still works) you are now in a position to get siege warfare and papacy and intolerance(which allows you to build the crusade). switch to christianity to get the crusade but as soon as you build it switch back to hinduism. you can now build the apostolic palace + sige weapons workshop

you can see now that you have crusaders(+125% XP) and catapults (remember that Korea's UU is the catapult) you can build a force that will take any city for the next thousand years) (this is how you make for not expanding early.

your economy will never get behind due to haveing 8 religions in one city ( the majority of your GP will be prophets which will build the holy temples) + your hachawa(catapults) and crusaders will be invincible for a LONG time. if you were able to build the crusades and apastolic palace in a second city you may also be able to build the great library in this city (also possibly plato's academy !!!!!! )

IF you were able to make sence of this ... and did what i told you ..... from this point on you will NEVER have to look back while cruising to an UNDISPUTED victory.

please post any questions and i will elaborate.

MY CUSTOM GAME: random personalities-mixed leaders-(reload random seed-for the crappy battles)-no tech brokering+all the default including REVDCM(if you are playing 2.92)

    feedback would be fun

(BTW) my all time favorite leader/civ combo is still roosevelt of the abbysinians!!!!!!!!!!

new tech order is mystisism-cermonial berial-polytheism-MINING( this alows a mine or two to build stonehenge and oracle quicker)-priesthood-WRITING-(you should time it so the oracle and writing finish simultaniously this allows you to build science and will allow you to get dualism quicker. now you can trade up for wheel,agriculture,weaving,fishing,slavery,naturolgy,hunting,archery,... poosibly even pottery, and metal casting. Use the oracle tech to get alphabet.)-Dualism-Masonry-(now use your first great prophet to get -meditation- (you should now be able to trade for sailing and trade, if not develope literature fo a bit then you should be able to . Once you have these you go for - mathematics-Calendar-now you should be able to trade for Monarchy, and maybe even ironworking once you have monarchy use your second great prophet to get whatever tech it is that gives you confucianism (it escapes me at the moment) now you can bee line helenism i forgot the name of the two techs you need for this.-literature-philosphy-(use a third great prophet to get)-theology. there now thats all of them.

Next you will need to make your army up till now you have been defense only. - build enough units to take one city or if you are luck you might even still have a place to build a city via a settler. this city will have king richards crusade and the apostolic palace.

siege weapons(for your UU catapult-findamentalism(for crusaders)then-Papacy. from here on out just your Great prophet for building holy city buildings(church of the nativity, solomons temple....ect.

in my next post i will discuss build orders and how to get all of these lovly GP's

build order- warrior-warrior-worker(once you hit pop three otherwise just spend a few turns building stonehenge till you have pop 3 )-stonhenge-oracle-research-until you have monotheism)-archer-archer-javalineer-javalineer- this should be all you need to defend from barbs. Feel free to build these during your research to monotheism if you hafta. you'll also probably need another worker at some point- once you get monotheism stonehenge and the oracle should have produced a great prophet use this to get meditation.

now is when you switch civics go to - prophets-slavery-church- then set your religion for hinduism (that is my preference because of the hindu + 25% xp promotion.)

k now its back to reasearch until you get calendar. at that point you switch to nagualism and build the naugual wonder that starts a golden age and gives you +2 free preists. (make sure to save that last wonder slot for the great silk road or the apostolic palace if some else gets to the silk road first.)

Now your City generating 12 Great prophet only points + 100% for golden age + 100% for the National epic (which we will get to in a moment) also your wonders that establish the Holy City produce GP points. you can see that you will rarely be lacking great prophets. and since you need 3 of them to lightbulb techs and you have 10 religions in this one city you will end up useing 13 over the course of the game. ( side note the national wonders i build in this city throughout the game are-national epic- treasury - forest reserve - and - the theater that give no unhappyness. you can see that because the reseve gives no pollution and a specialis for each reserve. this turns into a GP factory for all your corporation needs. build your wall street and national bank in another city without wonders later and you can found 4 corps here. CHA CHING!!!!

So..... back to the topic. After you have completed the naugualism wonder switch back to hinduism(or religion of your choice) and build research again until you get literature. then build - library - national epic-after this you need reasearch again. but time it so that your first settler comes out just as you finish theology. then build the forger and grainary in this city once those are done you should have fundamentalism and will be able to build king richards crusade. after this your main city should be at research until you get sige weapons then build you siegeweapon workshop and a 4-6 UUcatapults. about that time your first crusader will be popping and another shortly after. You now have ( your initial warriors should have died eventually while scouting) 2 archers 2 spearmen 2 axemen 2 swordsmen 2 crusaders and 6 UUcatapults all fairly well promoted by defending you city.

Now it is time to attack u need 4 city quick but luckily the cats and crusader will EASILY handle evey other unit in the game at this point.

build bazaars soon and get you silk road.

Also once you get papacy you will switch to -republic-free church-prolatariat -

with the money that will be rolling in you can now also use your cash to speed prodction.

Once you hit this point there really isnt anything you can do to loose the game so i wont bother with anymore strategy.

I know this is probably a little hard to read but i Hope you enjoy!!!!

This wont work on 28 civs earth map. Even if I have Ritualism from the start (as Incas) and directly tech to Mysticism, then Polytheism, a civ beats me 40 turns into it. 10 turns after that Ceremonial Burial is founded and some 40 turns after that Dualism. This is a snail/deity game. Maybe your strategy works on a fantasy map and with a good starting place and faster gamespeed but under realistic circumstances it's impossible-

I tend to prefer huge maps (GEM) on Emperor/Immortal difficulty. Going for one of the earlier religions would be crippling, and limiting myself to one city even more so. I am highly skeptical that you could pull this off (keeping only one city until you have founded four religions) on anything higher than noble difficulty.

For those who do genuinely play on Emperor+ difficulties, I would recommend going for Judaism after getting the basic resource gathering and military (ie, Archery) techs. Bonus: if you manage to found Judaism, founding Buddhism is just one tech away. The chances of getting both religions in one city are slight, but that really doesn't matter unless you can get Silk Road (an forbidden dream in most of my games).

Something I noticed in these games is that random script map doesn't seem to place silk on the map
in the above save i noticed it. I then conveniently placed a silk next to my city. Obviously though as stated above with 10 religions in one city the silk road is not necessary.

DRJ- i typically like to use maps where i don't know what the world looks like. Otherwise it seems to easy to scout and choose where to expand. Though i don't play on deity it seems like when there are too many civs it actually gets easier to tech because there are so many to trade with, Even though i use no tech brokering. I typically start with 12 civs.

Nefelia-as you can see above i also use immortal/huge maps and yes you do need a decent start but it doesn't have to be optimal. BTW I love that you thought I was lying.
