Only able to play tiny world sizes

For some reason, I am only able to play a tiny world. (havent tried duel size)

Anything larger and the game will crash even doing something as simple as turning the map grid on.

Athlon 1900+ 1GB Ram
Geforce 4 ti 4600 gfx card
