Just a thought exercise but I haven't really seen a discussion about it and I was curious what people think the optimal improvement placement is for things like Odens/Hamlets and then Garrisons/Barracks. Obviously, you can't have the optimal layout in every city but I'm interested in what kind of layout people prefer. This is what I've come up with.

I'm not a super great visual thinker so I'll admit to this maybe not being the best layout but, from what I tell, this gets you a decent amount of adjacency bonuses.

For the garrison configuration, I believe the below is standard per the manual, which credits @alcaras.

It achieves 9 adjacencies vs. 8 in your layout for that extra bit of optimization.

Not so sure about the theater/hamlet/bath question, but it seems like it can work itself out if there is a river. If you skipped the baths, you could use the above with the theater line in gray and the hamlets in between.

I usually put that in border of a city because it takes too long to reach the point where we can do what you draw.

It may be optimal, but for me too late to be useful as there is not much lategame for me in OW.
So by placing those things on the border Garrisons and barracks can enjoy each other from the other city.
