optimal resolution???

my optimal resolution of my LCD is 1224x1028. but what if i ran in 1600x1800 or something? would it look better. i have a dot pitch of .29 so it not gonna look too great. also i want to get a new monitor so it will look better so what would be a good one? the one i have now cost $650 its the LG Q1980

In my experience, an LCD at anything but it's native resolution is unusable. The 1280x1024 manufactured "grid" has to emulate a 1600x1200, etc., and doing so creates unacceptible blockiness.
