They had a friendly quasi-debate on the Daily Show last night. You can watch the clip here.

Actually O'Reilly was there to promote his book (the O'Reilly Factor For Kids - it's not a joke, there really is a book) but then called Jon a "pinhead." Stewart accused O'Reilly of ignoring real threats to continue his silly France Boycott.

Don't vote until you watch the clip. Then, who do you think came out best?

The simple fact that O'reilly went to his archnemesis to promote his book is already acknowledgment of his defeat.

Plus he still boycotts France ! We are the ennemy of the US ! :woohoo:

But I admit that I voted for Jon not because he came out best, but because I find myself more in line with his arguments.

Was this last night's actual episode, or a repeat? I thought I recalled him being on the show previously, and them kinda fake-sparring a little, but not actually getting into it.

How great it is to live in a country where jokes consist in saying that French and chicken go well together in order to sell Subway sandwiches ?

Americans despise the French ? fine I've got it. Jay Leno may consider that comparing France with dirt would be an insult made on dirt. Thomas Friedman can consider we are the new ennemy. Bill O'reilly can boycott France. The only thing I learn from this is that American media are lead by morons.

Watch out, you're falling for the lies of the campaign orchestrated by French media morons that says every American believe and act accordingly to what the US media morons say about France :crazyeye:

I'm enough grown up to judge by myself Masquerouge.

Turn it the way you like it, you'll never read Serge July from Libération or Alain Mincq from Le Monde saying that the US is France's new ennemy.

By the way, no one in French media are talking about French bashing in the US. I've found out by myself all the examples I've mentionned above.

Then why did you say "Americans despise the French" ?

I usely go against O'reilly.. But in this case I think both of them were equally bad. And what's up with all the french hating? Even Stuwart gets into it.

Stewart seemed to be sucking up slightly to O'Reilly. In all honesty it wasn't a very good interview but I liked how the crowd turned against O'Reilly when he went on his anti-French tirade. If I was Sterwart, I would have punched O'Reilly in the face for being such a horrible TV personality.

The best part happened when they spoke what is in my sig. I'm surprised O'Reilly didn't shout at the producer to try and get Jon's mic cut.

I don't think there was anything to win. It was a loose, friendly conversation.

Stewart trounced O'Reilly, from beginning to end.

From the WMDs, to "Go after Lucy, not Marcy", to "we add insult to injury, you just add injury."

O'Reilly just whined and moaned.

Now the Colbert Report... there was a show.

please, for the love of christ, stop calling all left wing people "liberals"

Colbert's comedy faceoff with Stone was indeed hilarious.

I thought Stewart won mostly because he was very successful at combatting O'Reilly's schtick. O'Reilly thinks he's a "serious pundit" but he's really a clown, it's just that nobody ever confronted him on it before... The pattern kept repeating, Bill would start off with ridiculous comments on confronting evildoers and his anti-France rant. Then Stewart comes in with a light-hearted jest like the Marcy comment or "when are you going to start" or "you add injury" that totally undermines O'Reilly and shows how nobody can take his pompous statements seriously. Bill also showed he can't take a joke, and even started yelling at his host and calling him a "pinhead" (did I hear that right?).

Stewart is usually a weak interviewer (yeah, he does tend to suck up) but you could see he was holding back from dealing another Crossfire style smackdown. If Stewart had been the guest instead of the host he would have eaten O'Reilly alive.

These two host my two favorite 'news' shows on TV. Have to watch it again to see who won.

EDIT: Didn't see a winner. They both won!

I thought they were both exchanging good punches, but O'Reilly starting resorting to childish name calling making me give the moderate nod to Jon Stewart.

I don't understand your question.

And by the way, Americans do despise the French.

I don't. 90% of Americans who despise the French are conservative, so that is less than 50% of all Americans in general.

One of main Kerry's problem was that he looked too French, wasn't it ?
