Orthus?

How does the game Orthus compare with the Orthus Capria killed? Or are they one and the same?

The story doesnt specify that she killed him, I assumed from it that she only stabs him and pushes him away. We will need Nikis-Knight to verify if that was his intent.

One thing I noticed about that story which I thought was interesting was the implication that Orthus was once a member of the Clan of Embers. What crimes did he commit that he was driven away, or did he choose that path himself, I wonder?

She was not meant to have killed him, just injured him enough to escape.

After the Orcs and Bannor warred for some years after the arrival of the Bannor. Orthus was their war-leader, effectively leading the male orcs. The Bannor were pushed back, but regrouped, and began defeating the clan armies. There are two camps among the orcs politically, one that wants to continue a frontal war, another that sees that as suicide. Orthus and a large group of orcs leave, becoming the barbarians and ravaging other lands such as the scattered outposts of the Kuriotates or elves, and fight with the frostlings probably, but Mulcarn by now is quite distracted by Kylorin's rise among the Amurites.
The rest of the Clans cease their full war with the Bannor, but continue guerilla attacks. Rantine is tired of seeing killing and dying and tries to broker peace with the Bannor. They agree, but wipe out several villages nearby after, just to be safe. (They are used to dealing with backstabbing demons, but still, it isan honorless thing to do.) Jonas threatens Rantine, who retreats east for a few years, until called back by Bhall.
Meanwhile the clans are split again over those who accept peace and those who want to carry on their attacks, and over leadership as well. All the tribes acknowledge the priestesses, but not a war leader, until the events of Jonas story.

That's how it works in my mind, anyway.

Interesting. Had I ever gotten around to finishing my story, I planned to make it so that Orthus actually founded the Clan: after his defeat, all the villages he conquered were still occupied by barbarians, who eventually organized into their own empire.

(I actually started writing the next chapter of that last week, but didn't get very far... if somebody wants to do co-writing at some point, drop me a word - I've noticed that I'm bad at writing anything longer on my own, but can achieve far better results when working together with somebody else.

Here's how far I got this time, if anyone wants to see:

Spoiler :
"We can't keep taking all them in for much longer." Serath shook his head, watching the stream of refugees. People of all kinds: humans, elves, dwarves, goblins... all tired of a dangerous life at the hands of bandits and barbarians, seeking shelter and a chance for a better life from behind Kwythellar's gates. One by one, the guards would take up their name, race and occupation, and then let them in.

"Oh?" The golden-eyed boy was standing next to Serath, on an elevated platform overlooking the gates. He watched the newcomers intently, studying them one by one. From the distance, Serath couldn't make out any much details, but he knew that Cardith had a hawk's eyes. He still remembered when he had first come to the city, a refugee himself - soon after he'd been admitted, Cardith had walked to him, fixing him an intense stare and welcoming him. Right there, before Serath had had a chance to even respond, the boy-king had said that he had a need for someone reliable to help him run the city, and appointed Serath as one of his advisors. To this day, Serath didn't know how Cardith had known him to be trustworthy, just by looking at him. "How come?"

"We're having difficulty feeding them all, for one - we've made many of them into farmers, but that won't help until next harvest." Serath bit his lip - Cardith knew everything that he was saying, of course. "And we're having more and more difficulties keeping them all peaceful - they all have their own habits and their own culture, and they're not used to having tolerate the culture of others. We've managed to keep quiet of the couple of deaths so far, but it won't take long until somebody gets killed that their brethren feel forced to avenge."

"Ah." Cardith nodded calmly, as if they were talking about the weather.

I don't think the clans were all united under the flag of the embers by then.

Rantine tried to broker peace with the Bannor, so he managed to convince a bunch of clan leaders to come with him to a negotiation. The clan leaders were slaughtered and Rantine was thanked and released. For that Jonas said he would kill Rantine.

When Rantine, after visionary dreams, find a fleeing Sheelba outside a Bannor village and bring her back to Braduk, the clans have all united under one banner, that of the Embers. With Jonas leading them. To War. For revenge.

Rantine and Sheelba gets confronted by Jonas. But Jonas keeps his cool. Rantine dares to tell Jonas that the war is madness and that Sheelba is their new Queen and that he would become their protector. Jonas apparently manages to keeps his cool and the war is off.

By this time, Orthus and his rag time band of non-embers orcs keep doing what they've always done. And the Clan of Embers, under Sheelba as Queen, Jonas as spiritual leader and Rantine as their protector are trying their best to civilize the orcs.
