OTR match, anyone?

Changes made to events. You should find your bombers infinitely more survivable now. You'll also find that P-47s make good escorts. If you haven't been following the other thread:

- Reaction range for fighters greatly increased
- Resiliency of heavy bombers, P-47s, heavy 190s (A8 and F) and Experten greatly increased

The most likely way a bomber or P-47 will die for you is from a reactive attack so make sure I don't have fighters lurking, but you "should" be able to get bombers through to most targets now. I only have a 1/5 chance of killing a "hard to kill unit" (it can be reduced to 3 hp). Bear in mind that bombers damaged that much drop less bombs.

Those changes sound good

One thing I've noticed with the last two events changes is that selecting a radar station and 'scanning with all stations' no longer ends the turn for that radar station, and the next unit to move is also a radar station. Previously all radar stations moves were completed by selecting scan with all stations....

The radar needs to be on an installation terrain now to work - if it isn't on that terrain its MP won't erode, but it also won't scan.

I think the game's afoot now - I take very heavy losses (5x 190s) attacking your well-escorted stack and only do minor damage. Granted I don't have many assets there, but still.

We kill a convoy, a few bombers, and attempt to kill an aircraft carrier but it is a tough nut to crack.

At the moment, if your radar station is on grassland, you can press k and have the option to change to installation terrain. This won't be in the final game, but is there to compensate for the change that has been made mid game.

V-1s launched against Dover, but no damage is done by the curiosity.

ahh! I have some serious catching up to do in technology terms. I think when you send over V2s I'll concede :)

I made changes to the events and units file - you now have aces available to you. I'd try and start getting those convoys to shore and knocking out my ports and you'll start getting reinforcements soon enough. I'm getting quite a few with Garfield after really committing to the Battle of the Atlantic.

When you say destroy the ports, I assume you mean the port units outside of cities, rather than the contents of the cities themselves right? Also, I had been using my A-20s to attack coastal guns and army groups. but they didn't dent them in the slightest so I've packed that in now...

Basically what you want to do is attack my port facilities on the high alt daylight map. This will, eventually, allow you to gather more freighters overall. You want to prioritize killing UBoats however you can so the freighters can get home, and you want to bring them to ports that have 3x fuel refineries ideally, for a maximum fuel bonus.

Things like shore batteries and army groups do nothing for you until its time to invade. You also can't destroy battle groups from the sky. You can only weaken them.

I have a full day of meetings without a lunch so I can't play until this evening.

As JPetroski says, attack the port units to increase the number of convoys that are produced (it also reduces the chance that German Wolf Packs respawn in port after they are 'killed'). You can get as much as 12 trains and 3600 fuel per turn from the Atlantic, so it is crucial to secure the Atlantic and destroy as many ports as you can. The ports are also relatively vulnerable, and will cost the Germans more to replace, since most ports aren't attached to large industrial cities. That means the Germans must either spend fuel to replace them, or spend trains, and in either case, the ports are still in a vulnerable position.

Tempests (unlocked with Jabo III) have 2 1000lb bombs, and are what you'll want to use to attack gun batteries and battle groups. You'll need a lot of them, however, and they're not much use doing other things. So, wait until you've secured the Atlantic and are ready to invade, then build them in a few turns.

Minor event change that permits V1 rockets to stay in the air over turns rather than being deleted.

Will stationing airborne fighters adjacent to Dover do anything in regards of the V1s?
