Please discuss on what Civ we should play as. Also give sugestions on what custom names we give to ourselves. (IE, Name, Title, Nation's Name, etc)
 
I think we should be... let's see.

The Netherlands have a great defender in the middle-ages. :)

Or we could be Persia, so we could rule the world with Immortals. :ninja:

Or the Maya, and we could capture workers. :whipped:

Maybe we can get a dutch sounding name of Fanatica

The Byzantines would also be nice.:)
 
I would have to read up on the new civs in the game, as I think it would be cool to try something new. Which civs have the Agricultural trait?

Maya are agricultural. :)

So are the Dutch, hey are seafaring too, we'd have booth of the new stats.
 
I think the Netherlands looks interesting. I got philosophy in every Conquests game I've tried so far, and it provides a pretty awesome lead now instead of being an otherwise useless stepping stone to Republic. Starting with alphabet would be a must.

Of course that strategy may not work with all human opponents, as it depends on luck of the draw for starting positions if everyone tries to do the same thing, as pure research speed rules. Any thoughts on whether it would be better to go away from the obvious philosophy strategy and try to be 1st on a lot of techs in a different tree, to try to get a SGL?
 
Yes, maybe, if everyone is going for Phil, then we should try and get as many other techs as possible... Then we could do a lot of nice traiding. :) Not a bad idea at all, not at all. :)
 
the dutch UU is too damn far away. However, contacts will be far more regional so seafaring could provide a great boon.
 
From another thread in here:

We should be agricultural and either industrious, expansionist, or militaristic, as to get an early boost. Commercial is a bad idea, scientific is ok (SGL! but otherwise... no) religious maybe, seafaring maybe.

This leads me to suggest:
Aztecs
Mayans
Incans

Thats... quite a funny list
 
I don't mind being any of those Native Ameican civs, their UU's are not bad either. :)

If we were the Maya, we could capture workers with the Jav Thorwers. :)

The Incan scout explores real fast. > A good boost early in the game.

The Aztecs have a fast warrior UU, not bad either.

I think Hygro's suggestions are very good. :)
 
I guess anything will be fine with me, though I have always favoured the Persians. Though I'm not sure as the Netherlands are very good as well...
 
A late UU, as ew have seen in the other MSGD, will never be used. Our Riders sure aren't being used :rolleyes:, and we probably won't ever use them.
 
So, Persia could be a dominnt with those Immortals. :ninja:

They're as good as the Medieval Inf, but come almost immidiately after the beginning of the game. They could be a very good UU, as noone will get anything like 'em until the Middle Ages. :)
 
I really think we should be agricultural though. The food boost is really good!
 
Well, if we were the Maya we could capture workers by enslaving. :whipped: It could be a nice idea to wipe barbs off the face of the world and get workers at the same time. :)

And they would be free, I mean we won't ever have to pay for their upkeep. :D
