I've beeen wondering quite a bit lately, about how it is that so many old, irrelevant institutions in society remain in existance. To name a few... Organized religion (as a whole, no one in particular), various moral stances & the Constitution of the US. I'm not saying that the US Constitution is irrelevant, but it needs a major overhaul (It's damn near 250 years old!). There are many other examples, but these are the ones that come to my mind the quickest.

I guess a simpler question would be... What can we do to expedite the evolution of ideas which would lead to a better way of life?

I wouldn't call organized religion & the Constitution irrelevant... kind of harsh...
Institutions die when people are ready to let go of them. Organized religion is FAR too...uhm... organized to allow people to let go.
Oh, yeah, and apparently a lot of people buy that stuff too :crazyeyes

As far as redoing the Constitution, it'd be more trouble than its worth. Really, what do we need to change that has wide concensus? Perhaps retooling the 7th Amendment a little, clarifying the 2nd Amendment as it applies to case law, and using language that is easier to understand. Far more trouble than its worth.

You've said it, it's an evolution of ideas. Evolution means that it will be a slow process and thus you will need some patience. If it would go fast it would be a revolution.:crazyeyes
