The only thing that I care about is the fact that some people are arguing that since Sandusky molested some kids and a few top officials at Penn State covered it up, the appropriate response should be to cancel football, for any number of years, thereby interrupting the careers of the football players, killing the chances of a number of high school kids who have no shot at getting into college without a football scholarship, not to mention all of the fans that won't see them play. And why stop there? Why not close Penn State altogether? Go ahead, fire all of the staff, professors, and support personnel. Drag all the students out of their classes, take all their book bags, text-books, and notes, throw them in a pile and set them on fire. Torch the Penn State campuses. Loot their funding. Go ahead, ruin the lives of tens of thousands of other children all for the sake of revenge for the acts of a handful of people. That will take care of everything, won't it? Give each of these kids $10 million dollars for their suffering. Hell, give 'em $100 million. That will make them forget. That will make it okay. Don't worry that tuition will more than double. Don't worry that conditions in the classroom will deteriorate. Don't worry that, again, tens of thousands of other kids will be hurt. Don't worry that America's response to this seems to be to allow the fact that this scumbag hurt a bunch of kids...they will let him hurt thousands more. Good call, America!
No, I don't care about his victims, at all. I don't know them. It was none of my business. In fact, I hate these kids. And its not even their fault. But, now I have to seriously worry that I may not be able to finish college, because these kids must be avenged. They must be avenged and I am among those who will be sacrificed on the altar of 'getting even.'
