Does anyone know how to crash an AI run Democracy? I've been starving the enemy capitol and I finally captured it but the AI never seems to have trouble maintaining Democracy. Any ideas? Thanks.

Use spies to sabatoge colosiums & cathedrals in a city where his happiness is marginal. If a city riots 2 turn in a row, a democracy is ovethrown.

Democracy only prevents bribry from spies, though i cant see why this is so...

There is no such thing as bribery in Democracies<IMG SRC="http://forums.civfanatics.com/ubb/wink.gif" border=0>

One would think that Democratic Capitolists would be more susceptible to bribes. Its that way in real life.

Petty bribery yes... but not inducing entire cities to switch allegiance. Or entire military units to defect. The citizens just wouldn't stand for it.

In that case it should be possible to bribe units and cities under a Demorcacy, only its costs heaps to do and then the citizen revolt afterwards!

Then what would be the advantage of a Democracy? I mean, no corruption, Courthouse = 1 happy, those are nice, but double unhappiness for military units out of the city more than pays for those. Not being able to bribe Democracies is a good compromise. I think that ability should belong to Fundamentalism though. Fundamentalists should NEVER be susceptible to bribery, especially Fanatics!!

That's just what we need, something to make fundamentalism an even more powerful war government!

True, but that's a good point. If they're so fanatical, why should they abandon their God and their High Priest just because you give them a little gold? A politique, yes, easily, but not a FUNDAMENTALIST FANATIC! I've known some people who were borderline religious fanatics, and I can't imagine them abandoning their ways so easily.

"Here, I'll give you two hundred bucks if you spit on a cross and start preaching agnosticism."

"Deal!"

Yeah, right! I think you should be able to bribe regular units of a Fundamentalism. You'll always find soldiers in any army who disagree with the policies of their ruler, or who are simply greedy enough to consider a personal monetary gain greater then their ruler's Cause. But not Fanatics. They should be immune to bribery just by virtue of being Fanatics.

Yeah, they could, but unless the bribing society is another Fundie, they're not gonna have any power, so where is the percentage? At least at home, the rulers professed SOME religion, even if it wasn't quite right...

And Fanatic units definitely should be immune to bribery. That would be about the only reason to make the worthless little doofuses. I mean 4/4/1 2/1? Puh-leese! Riflemen are equal defenders, better attackers, and Alpine Troops ought to be available by then, making both obsolete. Fanatics need something besides cheapness to endear themselves to me. <Shrug>
