Makes one wonder why, e.g. niter can't appear on grassland if there's some trees growing on top of it.
 
It's used to create musket-ents. Try to cut that forest and they'll appear, reduce your walls to rubble and raze your city.

Just shoot a burning arrow into them and all the niter will explode.
