I've heard that that the Palace Rank Exploit was 'fixed' in Conquests. Can anyone confirm this? A solid yes/no will do although I'd love to know the details, if any, behind this.

I can tell you, as a beta tester, that fixing such exploits seemed to be at the very top of their priority list, and that one seized their attention as soon as it was reported.

I was in the beta testing myself for a month or so before having to drop out, I just wasn't sure what the final decision was. However, I recall very well that you're right about their prioritizing exploits.

Thanks for the link, shirleyrocks. If they took care of RCP, it's very safe bet they canned the Palace rank as well.

What is this bug anyway?

You probably know about the ring city placement exploit (all cities same distance get same level of corruption.

Well, this goes even further. It seems that if you build your Forbidden Palace right next to you capital and then move your capital a long ways away (think Old Capital in St.Louis - new Capital in Sydney), that all cities closer to the FP get corruption level for distance 1. As you might guess, quite powerful. A couple of GOTM's ago, I used this and my GPT went from 350 to 900 and my corruption dropped from 600 to 200. [party]

(I probably didn't word this that well, but there's a thread about it in the Strategy Section)

The key thing is not only distance between Palace and FP, but the farther the Palace is from any city, the better. I recently employed this in an HOF attempt. I jumped my Palace from the northwest where my empire was to the southeast (indicated by the box) far far away from my cities. Well, you can see the before and after corruption numbers for yourself:

What was the Palace rank exploit, anyways?

I'm getting Conquests soon, so I want to try it before it goes away... :p
