I was hoping that thanks to the excellent AI and pretty much flawless play of Conquests that there wouldn't be any need at all for a patch but there is one thing that I see that they will want to fix.

You research Synthetic materials and get Modern Paratroopers. Then, if you want to go on up the tech tree, you can research advanced flight and get regular old Paratroopers. But why on earth would you take a step back? "Would you like to downgrade each Modern Paratrooper (1) and get 45 gold back?"

To build helicopters?

Well I never build helicoptors. But all I'm saying is they've got the order on the units wrong.

Am I missing something? Doesn't Advanced Flight give normal paratroopers and appear as an optional tech in the Industrial Age? And doesn't Synthetic Fibers give modern paratroppers and appear in te Modern Ages? i.e., the more modern unit comes with a more modern tech?

Maybe I misread the way the chart was flowing at 5 am this morning. I thought advanced flight was now coming out of synthetic fibers but that wouldn't make sense. Still...

Yes, I understand that part - I am just trying to figure out if I am missing something. You could very well research SynFib and have the ability to build ModParas, and then go back and research AF and now be able to build (but not be able because of your advancement) normal paras. Bt the AF tech gives more than paras - it also allows helicopters (whether paras or helicopters are worth the research is another discussion ;)). My point, again unless I'm missing something, is that the older tech allows more than just paras - it allows helicopters too. The semming anomaly arises because the older unit is available with an optional tech - similar to the cavarly / knight situation presented by Military Tradition / Chivalry (though different resources are at play there).

EDIT: Cross-post with Sultan Bargash -- the above post was in response to xIcemanx's post above. END EDIT.

Right. All clear. And no, I'm not going to waste my time trying to get helicoptors when the enemy is advancing towads nuclear missiles. ;)

it's this way with riflemen too, you can skip it and go right for infantry (a very handy tatict if you think it's worth the risk, although you lose the draft, commie, espinage [spell?] and MPP) in fact you could completly forget about about it, and research it after computers, that would (in theory) downgrade your MI's
