I'd have to agree with Akka. Granted, the "size" of each unit would be in relation to the game world, but in no case are you really talking about a 1-1 relation.
A rifleman unit does not represent 1 man.
A fighter unit does not represent 1 aircraft.
Even the naval units would not necessarily represent the 1 ship (think of a task force, that included 1 or more of the primary units, and several smaller auxillarys).
In my approximate thinking, I consider ground units to be of division level (approximately 12,000 to 14,000 men, or about 300 afvs). Air units to be of about the size of air-wing (about 4 squadrons of about 18 - 24 aircraft each). And again, the naval units to be a task force centered around the namesake (Aegis, Battleship or whatever), where the there maybe 1 or 2 of the namesake units, and the various supporting auxillaries (subs are along the lines of 8 - 10 subs in a "wolfpack").
But even if every pilot from an entire air-wing bailed out, you're still only talking about 100 guys. Armed with a side-arm and about 5 days of K-rations. Certainly not even remotely comparable to a division of 12,000 rifleman with complete logistical support.
