Patch 1.09/1.52: Non D2D: Can't install Patch

I've tried multiple times now to install both patch 1.09/1.52 and each time the installer starts up but will not/cannot find the game. It promptly tells me that 'a previous version of the game must be installed' and then shuts down.

I'm playing on a DVD installed version of Civ, legally bought. I've tried downloading the patch from multiple sites and also from within the game itself (which is particulary frustrating when the program tells me its not installed...even though its running the patcher from the program...)

Has anyone else had this problem or any idea how I could fix it? I'd really like to give the game a go with the new memory fixes.

This problem can be caused by corrupt or missing registry entries. Try to reinstall the game. This should recreate the registry. You should then be able to install the patch. Post again if that doesn't work.

had the same problem....

you probably moved your civ to another location or renamed the game folder.
