patch 3.19 vista problems, again

Ok I bought Civ 4 complete. Installed it as administrator. I then manually downloaded the 3.19 patch. When I run it as administrator, the computer runs the install/uninstaller. It actually uninstalled the program instead of installing the patch. I tried this both with and without the game disc in the drive. I have also tried it from the in-game updater and as I said from downloading from a third party site and manually running the .exe patcher.

Please help.

The game does run, but I can't update from 3.17.
 
Same problem.
Previously had "Civ 4: Game of the Year" but then went to buy the expansions - had to get the Complete Package* (Civ4, BTS, WLords ..etc). Are you suggesting that since I had a previous installed version I may experience a problem in uploading the patch?

TO CONFIRM THE PROBLEM:
DL'd the patch. Run the 'Installer'. There is no indication the install failed or was success... (it's wierd).

*Installing this was a pain. Couldn't install the Complete. Tried to uninstall old Civ 4. Ended up having to manually delete the original Civ 4. Works great - except for this patch issue.
 
Thank you Ori. It was a nightmare to install - I blame Vista not Civ: I digress.

After I completed manual delete I can now play BTS. However, prior to manual delete I could only play Vanilla and Colonization. And to answer your question - could not play BTS.

I would like to try an online game, but w/out 3.19 I'm at a loss.
 
Where did you fellows d/l the patch from?

Try removing or renaming the Installshield folder(s) under the appdata\roaming folders and run the patches again. Make sure that Vanilla is patched to 1.74 prior to doing this.

I suppose I should come up with a little generic post on how to do this. Stay tuned...

I have BUG mod.
The CD's I own are build 3.17

Bought the game recently - was borrowing my bros CD's all these months. Didn't get my first copy until a few weeks ago.
 
Did you run the 3.19 patch as administrator?
 
Ok so I am having almost the same problem. I've checked the site a few times, but none of the solutions have worked for me. Ori, I could really use your help with this. Recently I bought Civ 4 Complete. I previously owned the original Civ 4, however I uninstalled it beforehand. I am using Vista, and I tried turning off antivirus/spyware and I ran it as an administrator. I've downloaded the patch from multiply sites, however it never works. It will load up, but when the option comes up for me to install it, the entire application freezes and crashes. Just to let you know, I didn't download it from gamestop or anything. I bought the actual cd/dvd, and I shut down all programs when I try and load it. Any ideas?
 
oooh. I might have the EU version. Its default language was french before I switched it to english. It came with 3.17 and I am trying to install 3.19.
 
It is the cd/dvd version. I believe that I installed it with admin rights, all the games play fine. I have not tried installing the colonization patch yet, and I will try that right now.
 
Sorry that I have not replyed in such a long time. Things got really busy here and I have not had the chance to play in a while. I was able to install the colonization patch just fine, but still can't install the BTS 3.19.
