1) about financial traits- can be good idea, new dimension in the game
2) 4-5 I say, just as you said. I have very little PBEM experience, but I think 4-5 is good for turn/day
3) you're right
4) I prefer regular start than advanced
5)I'm always for some advanced start or multiplayer session during the game. Of course, if we can agree that ;)
6)yes, normal speed is OK, and slower games are not such popular in multiplayer games...

At the end, I would like to join this game :)

Thanks for the input. Have you played any BtS PBEM yet? Are there any pitfalls you know of that should be avoided that are not obvious? I have added the set up conditions (plagarised from another game) in the OP.

I'm interested in playing

as far as your questions,

1.) doesnt matter to me
2.) i think its pretty hard to expect much more than a turn a day past three or so players, unless everyone is super dedicated. I'd imagine the best way to set it up for "maximum efficiency" is to have everyone submit their typical hours of playing adjusted to gmt, giving unflexible people (7-10 PM) preference in the roster and have flexible people (8PM-1AM) after them. But even then, people are people and anything outside of a duel game with your brother aided by the world of texting ain't gonna go that fast.
3.) no ai is good
4.)either way, slightly prefer regular
5.) sounds like a lotta work, but could be possible
6.)normal's typical

burliconni, check your time zone to make sure I have it right.

Green items in the game set up are considered to probably be set, blue items are open to discussion :).

Yes, you got my time zone right ;)
And about choose religion- I very often play it in single player, because it's more realistic. For example, some religious buildings have double speed with some resources, and it is logic that user choose them, because he know whet resources he have :)
Others options also sounds fine to me, but we can always talk about changing continents to pangea, just to be more funny ;)

I would be interested in playing my first (I used to play SMAC alot...) Civ IV (BTS is fine) PBEM game. I tend to be available at 05:00 GMT or 20:00...

We appera to have four (assuming everyone is still around). Do y'all think that is a good number to start? I am guessing it should work fine on a small map.

Can everyone send an email to a the email address in my profile? This will confirm that you are still playing and will make sure I have everyones email address.

Guys,
whilst four is a nice number I think 5 would be better, so if not too late I would like to be included in this game please.
I am in England i.e GMT0
I usually have time to play turns around 08:00 GMT or in evening after work and whenever possible at weekends.
I will e-mail you trainwreck on the off chance spot still available

Ok, I will send you my details via PM, but I will not be in the city for 2 days, so I can only play my turns from tuesday(16.10). After that, I will be in a mood for any kind of play- online, or PBEM ;)

I forgot to choose my leader. So, if we play WITH financial leaders, I would like to be Viliem Van Oranje. But, if we decide not to be financial (which we all agree) then I would like to be Qun Shi Huang of China.
So, see you soon;)

I am requesting that each of you send in your top five civ requests (email or PM will work). Each player will get the highest pick that is unique. If it is not unique, then ALL the matching players will go to their next choice. I am sticking with the no financial leaders...it makes me rethink my picks, at least :).

Don't send them until after 1800 GMT on the 14th, this will give me a chance to figure mine out. I will post them to a place on the web that I will give you the link for later. It will have a posting date so you can see I posted them before I got your emails :).

Okay, my picks are codified on the web. Y'all can start sending your lists whenever you feel like it. Once I get them, I will give out the link to the location.

I reordered the list above as a tentative play order. Does it have any effect, like the founding of religions? Or is there some kind of random thing if people discover a religion on the same turn?

When events are completed on the same turn i.e tech founding wonder building etc the civ in the higher play order gets there turn processed first so does get the religion, free GP etc all the time. It is one of them things that is in the game and you can't do anything about. The order is good for playing efficiency as it minimizes amount of trael across time zones.

I am assuming, then, that Burliconni has to set up the game and start it. After his turn, he will then email it 'forward'. I notice that there is SMTP and email entries...do we give that to Burliconni too, or just use conventional email the first round instead of in-game email?

Oh, and is it normal to turn off the goody huts, or do y'all want them left on? I could go either way....

Why don't you start it and send it to the next person?

Looks like Im last with the leader list sorry :mischief:

I second starting at Trainwreck although thats means I will be last in the turnset. D'oh.

Everyone got their first choice. It would be fun to play w/o knowing what the other leaders are, but that is kinda impossible since the person setting up the game would know :). Leaders are posted in the first message. Let me know ASAP if there are any errors. I will start the game shortly, if that is okay with all. Speak now, or forever hold your piece (or, at least for the next few thousand years).

Stupid stats:
1x Aggressive trait
2x Expansive traits
1x Creative trait
1x Industrious trait
1x Organized
2x Philosophical
1x Protective
1x Spiritual

Not picked at all:
Charismatic
Imperialistic
(and, of course, financial)

So expansive and philosophical are the only ones repeated...quite a spread off traits from a pick-your-own start....

I have not heard any opinions on goody huts, so I will leave them on...will give us something to do early in the game.

Okay, game is forwarded to slaze. All players have a password (I am sending the password to each of you). I think you can change it (I assume you can, that would be silly not to be able to).

I have never concentrated so hard on which way to move that warrior for his first step :D....much more fun already than AI....

If everyone knows their smtp, we can try in-game mail. I just ended my turn and it saved the game, and then I forwarded it...I assume that is the way to go. Can I open up the game after I sent it and look at the map after I have sent it? I assume that is okay. Not much use now, but may be useful later....
