PC vs Console

I was referring to consoles, not pc ports.

Although yes a few console games now have level editors.

And the beauty of consoles that children and less experianced gamers can play them is also a major drawback unfortunately, I feel like some games that are ported or even co-develloped for Pc and console feel dumbed down, missing stuff. Far Cry 2, could have been better. CoD4 though is an exception, it's a really good PC Game and still a good X-Box game without feeling dumbed down. (Except by my inexperiance with the stupid x-box 360 controllers).

Well if the companies would allow cross platform online, I could see PC lasting a lot longer.
The first cross platform online game that is in development that I know off is Star Trek: Online where they are planning to have players play on the same servers on all 3 systems.

There are a few games that have cross-platform, but most devs would rather put the time and money into something else. As well I think the only way you can do that is to have the game as a Games for Windows game and other Microsoft set requirements.

I don't see how the lack of cross-platform multiplayer between console and PC will shorten the PC's lifespan (which I don't see the end of except by lack of palstic and money).

With a console you stare at a TV screen.
With a computer you stare at a computer monitor.

Both. They each have their benefits.

True that.

My favorite types of games:

FPS
Simulation
Strategy

All three genres are superior on the PC. Conquering galaxies and empires on my 24'' widescreen at 1920x1200 resolution...gaming bliss  I'll be happy as long as Stardock, Valve, Creative Assembly, Relic, and Paradox make PC games.

But I have a Wii, Gamecube, and N64 hooked up for party games, which are pretty damn fun :goodjob:

Well im not sure where I stand. PC has the advantage of more and better cheat codes, mods, and usually free online play. However consoles have the advantage of less lag (a very moving issue) a better feel for the game, and lets face it, more games.

Less lag? I've heard of plenty of lag issues with consoles, and I almost never get lag in my PC games, even when playing on European servers. Unless you were referring to the game it'self not running well witrh a low fps rate and choppy feel, which is not lag (lag is only to do with the internet connection, which affects consoles as much as PCs).

There are definately not more games for consoles than PC.

Consoles. It's nice being able to have a reliable gaming machine what won't cost me to upgrade in addition to the cost of a new game everytime I want to buy one. Although some PC RTS games I ADORE (Civilzation, Total War series come to mind.)

Bit of an overstatement, I upgraded my comptuer this past febuary/march with an 8800GT a month or two later and have yet to see any reason to upgrade anytime soon as I can run every game I have (which includes Crysis, Far Cry 2, Left 4 Dead) fine at max settings.

More games doesn't really equal better in that a lot of games are half-step versions of the last game, or clones of some other, better game. The tons of crap games is why I lost interest in consoles.

Easy to play and split screen multi-player give consoles mass appeal over computer games.

I bought my computer 3 years ago, and the only thing I've upgraded is the video card because the old one buggered up. It's still playing current games quite fine.

Both. They each have their benefits.

Is the truth.

I bet most gamers with discretionary income (say age 25+) have consoles and a PC capable of playing PC games. If you like videogames, it's silly to limit your horizon by sticking to just one platform...

PCs are much, much better.
The problem with PC gaming currently is that most games are shameless console ports made by dumb hacks. GTA4, anyone?

I hate this trend of dumbing down recently. Specially RPGs. We're never going to see something as good as Fallout 2 or Planescape Torment again. Why? Because the big companies dominate, and what they do? Games with prrrrty graphix, dumbed down features, stupid mindless combat and generic settings. Compare Fallout 2 with Fallout 3. The diference is simply SCARY.
