Pericles the Culture Nut

Joao attack us? Unlikely. I say sign defensive pacts with him as soon as the war ends, and besides. we're in heriditary rule, his faverite civic, both us and joao are in a war with surya (how many bonus points is that?), and he's friendly with us.

Still here, I'll play tomorrow morning unless Trieste comes by and got it before.

Sorry for the delay, heavy week-end...

Time to start up the 'Final Push' (TM)

But first of all, we have to make sure we are untouchable (or almost).

I've done some massive upgrades to Rifles in border cities with all the gold we had in our stockpiles.

On the first turn, I had plenty nice stuff.

Steel came in, I decided to go for Corporations for the extra TR in every city.
Byzantium achieved its great work:

And a Great Artist is born in Biberacte

Next turn, AP proposed a resolution to stop war against us, which was quite along the lines of our plan :D
The resolution passed without too much problems (every1 except Surya and Toku voted Yes), and the war stopped.

I decided it was time to make the first step toward the culture-ful mode.
Research was brought down to 20%, while the culture slider went up for 60%.

On turn 367, the final piece of our insurance policy fell in place:

Et voilà, meet Pericles the Untouchable Culture Nut ;)

On the same turn Surya became vassal to Qin and Toku has been freed into an independant state (was it automatic ?).

I decided it was time to revolt one last time - Free Speech! Pity it took two turns of Anarchy...

Three turns later, the Corporation was in. I started Assembly Line.
Still, there is a very low chance we will finish it. I dropped the slider to 0%, raising the Culture to 90%.

Some deals went on between us and the friends, allowing to manage a low deficit with some nice stock of gold :

Dye for Gold from Qin (on his request)
Military Science and 1020 gold for Demo from Joao
17 gpt for Wine from Qin
5 gpt for Deer with Churchill
11 gpt for Gold with Joao

At the end of the turn set, things are looking well.
Here are the golden three of ours :

There is a GA on the road from Biberacte to Corinth, the weakest of three. We can bomb it later on to equalize.

On the religious side of things, we should continue the effort.
Here is a screenie showing the situation and having some to-do stuff on it:

I don't think additional players are needed. From now on, it should be a cruise to the victory somewhere in 60 turns or so :king:

Quotey, you're UP!

Maybe we increase the turns? 1 30 turn set from quotey, another 30 turn set for Trieste and play to the end for whoever is after him?

Cool to have you back Trieste!

You can grab it if you wish and if it is ok with Quotey.

Pretty agree with the won aspect of the game, though we can never be sure.. A razinf of Biberacte for instance... (if I were the AI, I would raze it )

Got it, will play tonight and maybe post, but likely tommorow. I'll shoot for 30.

INHERITED (375)

Nothing, really. Decide to let Bibracte finish the Levee. Turn Corinth to full Artists, by removing from hills.

Turn (376)

Corinth Something -> Sec Byoorow

Islam Missionary won't give anything to Byzantium.

GO AWAY WORKERS I WILL NOT DO 30 TURNS IF YOU KEEP BOTHERING ME, JESUS CHRIST.

Athens Islam Miss. -> Bhud Monastery
Byzantium Budd Miss. -> Sec argwhatever
Argos Budd Miss. -> Security Buearu?

Why were we building Missionaries? Really, that just means I have to click!

Artist makes a Reat Work in Corinth. Hilarious, and cuts the time by roughly nine turns.

Also, made a mistake on Corinth's build. I sohuld have put it on an Islamic Monastery. :/

Ephesus becomes confused.

civ4screenshot0005yq5.jpg

Turn (405)

China is at PLUS SIX for past events. He gave us some food.

Wow, those went quicker than expected.

ATHENS will become Legendary in 27 turns (I stagnated it to run full artists)
BIBRACTE will become Legendary in <17 turns (The Great Work there was a mistake, I should have thought about it more.)
CORINTH will become Legendary in 25 turns (I stagnated it to run full artists)

Maybe too many screenshots, I ahould have Thumbed less important ones.

Trieste, want to finish up with 27? Post a save 1 turn before the end. For the Personal HoF.

Loved your write up Quotey

Nice job on cutting the legend time

Grab it home Trieste!

before the first turn I switch Halicarnassus to gold and we're at +2 gpt with 100% culture

some spying and we move from 3rd to 2nd in score

turn 411 was fun. the mosque finished in Bibracte so just 10 turns to legendary for that city now.

We also got a cool-looking event:

AWESOMEEVENT.jpg

I gave horses but nothing happened. Next turn Japan made peace, the bastards.

letdown.jpg

we got a prophet this turn, setteled him in Athens for 2 :hammers: 5 :commerce: 2 :culture: but it wasn't enough to change the amount of turns it would take to get to legendary. I put a few more artists in Athens and started globe there b/c it would generate culture faster than building culture. This is all just to shave off a turn or 2 at the most but it's fun :D

t 418 - AP vote for open borders, passed
t 419 - deny some ridiculous trade Sitting Bull proposed

t 421 - Bibracte hits legendary

1stnaval.jpg

Civ4ScreenShot0123.jpg

t 425 - Globe finishes in Athens, 6 turns to legendary in Athens (even starving with 7 artists), 5 in Corinth

Here's a pic of our empire a turn before the win:

Thanks for making it toward a highway end Trieste.

It was a nice game, though a pretty long one
Anyway, I appreciated it very much and hope to be on other SGs with players like thee :king:

This has been really fun! Congrats to all members. To bad Sloberinbear and Arlborn couldn't see the final victory :(

Great job, I might throw together a little end of game thing with a few graphs (Especially the replay- it shows the Colony bug in action!) But I'll only post this for now:
