What the hey? No pet pictures thread yet in the new OT?? Anyway, moving on...

So this morning I'm getting ready and I let Otto (one of my cats) out the back door into the fenced back yard and take Suki (my dog) out the front door to do her business and run around a bit before I have to leave. Within a couple of minutes I hear this howl of cat noises from the back, so Suki and I open the gate to the back yard to see what's what. Well let's just say stupid neighborhood cat picked the wrong backyard to trespass in this morning. :)

And just to introduce the whole clan to the new OT, that's Suki to the left, Mirror in the chair, Otto to the right (Yes, this is in old OT thread.)

And how Suki views herself!

haha :) I love bunnies but i don't think they'd be an option for me with my dog and cats! Awesome names as well!! :goodjob:

Here's Clover Meadow Grimseshaynes.

3yr old Siberian Husky, about 33lbs (that's about 14 kilos for our more enlightened readers).

1st pic is very recent - this past July in New Hampshire. She loves it up there.

2nd pic is at the New York City Marathon, which goes right past our old apartment. She liked cheering on the wheelchair runners.

3rd pic is with our little friend Max, who's now 2. She LOVES kids.

@VCRW - do you hunt with Suki?

Looks like Il Duce knows he's in charge.

One thing I really miss about my cats is playing ribbons with them. Even old cats like that game.

No, though she apparently has some inborn visceral hatred of skunks. I don't know why, but her entire demeanor changes when she sees one. It's not like when she chases a squirrel up a tree or things of that nature. There's a speed increase in her beeline to a skunk and aggression is pegged. First time i saw it it actually kinda spooked me. She just ran right to it and brutally shredded it in about three seconds. It never even had a chance to turn around and try to spray her. Never seen her act that way towards anything else in her life.

Wow I'm glad the skunk got it's butt handed to it.

You know those things have almost no fear of other animals because of their unique ability? Nothing touches them except non-smelling birds and your dog apparently.

Since this is a pet thread (I know, it's for pictures, but still):
Does anyone have stories to share where they were saved by their pet from danger or conversly the pet saved you?

The only close call that happened to me was when I was a little boy. I was being mean to my little brother, and when I turned around, he grabbed a metal toy truck and tried to bash me in the head with it. Our dog saw and intervened, saving me a nasty bump or slash to the head and possible concussion.

Clover, me, and Stacey were driving up to NH to visit my family. Stacey was in the middle of having an early miscarriage, so she's laying in the passenger seat writhing with severe cramping - trying to doze off between contractions.

Clover is riding in the rear seat - we usually make a little platform for her right behind us since the way back of the sweet sweet 1993 Subaru Loyale is loaded with bags.

We're on I-91 in Vermont, I come around a bend and spot a Moose in the wedge of grass between an exit ramp and the travel lanes. This is only the 2nd time I've seen a moose in New England, having lived there for 25 years. I immediately get on the brakes, hoping s/he doesn't cause any problems. "sit up! Sit Up! SIT UP!" I shout to Stacey, since in her nearly prone position the seatbelt will not keep her from sliding forward if we hit this beast. No airbags in this sweet sweet Sube.

Moose lumbers off the grass into the travel lanes. Hard on the brakes, just softer than locking up (no anti-locks on this sweet sweet Sube), trying to steer to where the Moose won't be. Stacey has her seat upright, with a bewildered look on her face. Then moose angled straight towards us, and we collided. I was slowed down enough that we sort of tripped him - he fell onto the hood. I thought for sure he was going to cave in the windshield and we'd be squished. But lucky for us he didn't roll that far, and slid down off the hood - onto his feet - and he lumbered along over the guardrail, across the median, and into the other lane of the highway.

Then it happened:

Clover, who had been completely silent throughout this whole ordeal (lasting about 5 seconds at the most, I'd guess), bravely went into alert mode when a fellow driver walked up to the car to see how badly we were hurt - after all, he just saw a Moose fall onto our hood! Clover held him at bay, barking her sweet little face off, letting him now that she was NOT COMFORTABLE with his presence.

I apologized to him for Clover's behavior, and she settled down to a grumbling sulk. The nice guy and I marveled at the lack of damage to my car, and we all went back to our cars and drove off.

So I guess Clover's fine with wild animals laying on the car, causing a small dent in the hood and a cracked signal lens; but NOT OK with good samaritans.

Hahaha clearly he was more dangerous than the very large animal that just collided with you.

My baby girl Sophie.

images are cracked for me :(

You mean they're red x'es? Huh. They're on my Gmail account, and I have no idea how to get their image URLs otherwise.
