Pet pictures

I shocked to learn it's the exact same name. So often little bugs have vastly different names even from one region to another, let alone across languages!...

Example:
In the Northeast USA, we call them 'dragonflies', as you move south into Maryland, Virginia, and the Carolinas they are called 'darning needles'.

Interesting stuff.

I have lived in Virginia/South Carolina for nearly my entire life, I have never heard anyone use the term "darning needles."

Same here. And I live in Redneckville.

Okay- NOW here's my baby girl Sophie:

Awww...

I want a racoon almost as bad as I want a pet fox. I'm jealous.

It's not an easy under taking. Unless you buy a really expensive domesticated fox from Russia, you're dealing with a tame fox. For the raccoon my uncle has, he's had to give her an unused bedroom (hence the 80-year-old wallpaper) so that the rest of the house doesn't get torn apart.

They're also not very cuddly pets. People like to think cats aren't social animals. Cats are very much social, just not obedient and subservient like dogs. A tame fox or raccoon will tolerate you but will never act in the same manner a dog or cat will.

I am going to buy an expensive domesticated fox from Russia.;)

Yeah, I know racoons are terrible pets. It's just a fantasy I have because they're so darn cute. I'll never get one unless I'm filthy rich.

Russian foxes, on the other hand...

A raccoon is much cheaper than one of those, heh. 6-7 grand for the animal plus importation, assuming importation is possible.

I have a picture of our female cat, Pandora, while she had a collar on after getting sprayed. She looked so unhappy in the picture and yet so many times she was able to free herself of it. Her favourite spot in the whole world is my lap.
