Played a few internet games, they were very disappointing.
First of all there are no dedicated servers, lag is everywhere, all unit/battle animation is turned off, it just kills the atmosphere of a living breathing world.
Unlike other more competitive online strategy games, there are no ranking or ratings for playing online, which encourages players to leave the game whenever they feel like it.
I have played FFA 6-12 players game where people just leave like flies after 15 min or so with absolutely no penalty against them. There is no point in playing online multiplayer anymore once 90% of your opponents are computer AI.
In fact, as of now, there are no reason to play the online multiplayer at all, period.
