PFS02: Churchill of the English

Sorry for the delay but RL came up at bit me on monday but here we go.

The first order of bsuiness was to trade for Astronomy with Zara, Rammy had also left a worker outside Poly which i snapped up with a phant.

Rammies stack was still wandering around on the hills at Kish, i declined to attack on the hills and would wait until they reached level ground. i drafted a couple of redcoats in coventry and warwick

Rammy decided not to move to level ground but attack Kish, no losses left Rammy with only one grennie.

i made a trade for a little gold to Stalin, hopefully to improve our diplo

Fortunately we'd moved a lot of defenders into Warwick and Stalins attack was easily repulsed with the loss of only one redcoat.

Stalin had enough at this point and made peace with a little bit of gold thrown in for good measure.

Sitting Bull had visited and offerd this trade, two redundant techs for chemisatry seemed okay so i made it.

Meanwhile i'd moved the force from Kish to attack Heliopolis, I'd upgraded one of the calvary to improve the visibilty and stopped when i saw this stack of Rammies defenders

this is where i stopped, moving the stack adjacent to heliopolis would see them decimated by those cannons and i'm at a loss with what to do next.

Mea culpa for misunderstanding; and to be honest, Quotey, I don't really understand your "Don't worry" comment, so I'm batting o'fer here.

We have six cavalry, three in our attacking stack, two one turn away from Nibru to the north, and one one turn out of Polynesian to the southeast. I think with reinforcements brought in from Poly, we would have no problem decimating that garrison, but I leave that decision to the player.

As to who that is, I'm very :crazyeye: I guess we could give Ad Hoc 24 to check in, and then Ozbenno take it if he doesn't.
 
i'll let Oz take it, RL is really beginning to cut into my Civ time,

i think there are also some phants that can be upgraded, we have a bit of cash but research is running at a hefty deficit
 
I downloaded the save and had a look. Basically this game is toast. Do we want to wave the white flag or is anyone interested in seeing it out?

Seeing that Ramesses will have Railroad (and machine guns) in 12 turns, which would take us 192 turns at our current (deficit) research shows the way. We don't have the troops to do anything about it.

But really, the situation is EXTREMELY bleak. Anyone willing to do a post mortem while waiting for Pholk?
 
I say let it sit until Pholk can come back and decide, it is his game, after all. I assume we'll want to do something with the lose in style thing.

Post-mortem, I'd be interested in talking about what went wrong; not to point out anyone's play specifically, as I don't think there were any fully :smoke: turnsets, but what could have been done better? For me, I felt like this game never had any super-specialized cities, for commerce, hammers, or food. Dotmapping this game seemed especially difficult, as if all the cities we were founding were just "okay".
 
I don't think this game is totally hopeless. Rammy would offer 1100 gold for peace right now. If we take it, could make DP with Zara for safety, deficit research Steel and start again with cannons.

that notwithstanding, i haven't had much of a chance to check out this game for a WHILE! Obviously, i'm in no position to tell you to press on or end it. If you think it's toast, then let's let it die.

also, re: the PFS series: i am putting Ozbenno "in charge" (he doesn't know yet) of the series. if he has the time, then feel free to continue. otherwise, I'd prefer it if the series held up until i come back in a month or two. other than that ~

I also switch research to Steel as if we'll get it.

So he uses up all his cannons right? And then I kill the leftovers, k?

Anyone else want to continue? Please look at the save. I think we can hit Thebes, and then AS MANY CITIES as possible.

The thing is... Machine Guns next turn. I might play som more, so post a got it if you want to play some. I'd say this is open to ANYONE in the absence of Pholk, but if the real members oppose this, just say.

I feel this situation is not as good as it could have been. Why didn't you considered peace I mentioned. With the 1100!!!! gold we could have deficit researched Steel in reasonable time. Now it would take some 139 turns! :gripe: Rammy would offer now only 140 gold + Giza.
You should have mentioned Zara is in war with Rammy now.
And you didn't captured Memphis but Alexandria.

I continued from Ad Hoc's save. Take peace with Rammy for 1100 gold and researched Steel. I got cannons on the same turn as he got MGs.
Redeclared on Egypt add took the 3 main cities.
Now he is ready to be vassalized.

Nicely played, negy. It's amazing how powerful cannons are. Did you see a lot of Machine Guns? I'm wondering if taking his gold also prevented him from a lot of upgrading.
