I am quite disappointed in the lack of new philosophical combinations in the expansion.

In the vanilla version the combinations seemed lacking enough, but now with the addition of three new traits without a single philosophical pairing, its just downright depressing. Why neglect a trait so bad? Let's look at the combinations still available.

    Phi/Ind
    Phi/Cre
    Phi/Cha
    Phi/Imp
    Phi/Pro

Are any of these really that unbalanced? Phi/Ind, maybe, okay - I could see that being pretty tough to come up against, but why remove Phi/Cre all together? It was a good trait. I played as Frederick alot, and it's not like I had a huge advantage or anything.

As for the new combinations, what do you guys think? Why arn't there any new philosophical leaders? It can't be the lack of histoical leaders posessing any of these traits, and I really don't think it comes down to balance issues.

More room for another expansion maybe? I sure hope so.

I am also quite annoyed with the change in Frederick's traits.

I don't see Phi/Org being that much worse than Phi/Cre, but I sympathize.

Perhaps there will be more philosophical leaders in the next expansion.

It is easy to add new leaders with mods, that have different trait combinations, right?

Phil, Imp would be pretty cool (get all great people easier).

I guess the way it is set up now makes the ones we do have worth more.

You don't get it at all. THEY WANT MORE AND MORE AND MORE EXPANSIONS TO BE DELIVERED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am sure you will get the next expansion because of just a few changes with new leaders and traits.

That, plus all the other stuff, yes.

And I don't mind giving them $30. I'll get several THOUSAND hours of fun from this. What's that, three cents an hour?

Philosophical can be way too powerful, if each GP is used to gain tech.

Well, I'm not, because I usually play Random Civ. Think of it this way: now you'll have to play with other Civs, so you'll get more out of the game.

Don't you love it? I usually neglect the religion portion of the tech tree, but sometimes I can still found Christianity by getting a great prophet and then beelining Monotheism. Then I use the prophet to light-bulb Theology.

I am pleased by the Frederick change. Phi/Cre was never useful to me; all the other Phis and Cres have more synergy with their second trait. In fact, pre-Warlords I ranked Frederick as being tied with Bismark for being the 2nd worst leader (Cyrus at Exp/Cre was the worst).

However I am a little bothered by the overall lack of Phi leaders now. It seems like there should be 1-2 more.

Saladin was awesome as the Phi/Spi. As Pro, I'm really not intersted in him at all now.

PHI/CRE had nothing on IND/FIN. I think they removed IND/FIN as well, didn't they?

Actually, they made it worse. It's Huayna Capac, who starts with mysticism!

Quechuas still get Combat I even though he isn't Agg.
