i am overloaded for sure ~ my limit is 4 right now and you see how well that's working out for me course, i'm always available for snarks and wise-ass comments
I'm a little behind on this (got caught up in the rainforest, you know), but I have it, and thanks to the powers that think that some random day in February should be a holiday, will be able to play/post today.
Charlemagne of the Holy Pholkan Empire, Bindy's War
First order of business was peace with Asoka, costing only 20 gold.
Someone mentioned war with Wang. He's protective, you know. Lots of lovely CG2 and CG3 longbows with Drill 1. We did have lots of catapults though, sentried in various cities throughout our empire.
I collected together an attack force and, in 1110, mentioned to him how marvelous that visage of his would look at the tip of a long cylindrical object.
He wasn't flattered.
Pyongyang fell to us in 1140. I noticed the big pointy building in Seoul and had to continue.
Seoul was at 100% defense, and going down about 2% per barrage. I noticed we had 1400 EPs vs. Wang, and had never built a spy! I whipped a spy and sent him into Seoul to throw it into revolt:
Building more spies, but took the walls down the old fashioned way. It took much carnage, and with my LAST available unit:
A great general was born in Seoul during the fight. Sorry Wang!
Now the problem here was that I could only fortify Seoul with a chariot and a spear.
So I did the obvious thing:
See, my very own war.
Besides pyramids, Seoul has Zeus and Artemis.
On the home front, I acadamied a GS in the capital (at about 90% chance of producing a prophet!). Would have bulbed philosophy, but two of our three friends already have it, so not much trade value.
Civil Service is due in 1. Note that besides bureaucracy, we have all the government civics available from the 'mids.
City specialization:
A lot of cities have cottages; some of those would be better suited as production cities, IMHO. Specifically, Florence, with plains cows and iron, and Ulm, with horses and 5 grassland hills. Pyongyang (elephant city) might also make a good production city.
There was a sign suggesting that I farm Mainz. As I received it, one FP was cottaged and one was farmed. It is still this way, although it does seem like a production city as well.
On another note, I deleted that sign. Not that the female dog reference is that bad, but I have two daughters who watch me sometimes, and they don't need to see that. Keep the signs G-rated, please.
Great general born in Aachen awaits the next players orders. Settle in Ulm and make that Heroic Epic City? It has 20 hammers available once the last hill is mined, before workshops, and with irrigation and workshops should be decent production. If we decide that, start farming over the cottages.
Only Seoul and Vienna are not currently Christian.

great turns Bind ~ and that was my sign ~ sorry, and it's been there for a while, glad so many people listen to me
[in other news, just on simpsons last night, there was a lady and the tramp parody where homer called marge a . .. .. .. .. . and she thanked him for using the technical term for a female dog, most likely to get around censors good times, that show ]
I wonder what our happy cap is? If it's somewhat low, i would say HR would be good simply for the bigger cities. Are we running so many specialists that Rep would be a good deal???

The transition turnset - just the ten turns of forced peace.
On the first turn, as CS checked in I revolted:
Workers went around cutting the jungle, getting cottages/farms/mines up where required.
Builds went the military way (except some rathauses), to rebuild enough army and take Wang.
Except that, we will be having enough on our hands now:
It seemed to me as an appropriate moment to stop
Don't worry - Machinery is due in 5, and we have some nice cash to get Maces upgrades right ahead. Also, I have several units on the go to Vienna orders - some spears for instance.
Seems the best is too assume that Monty is after us, let's beef us the military, upgrade everything to maces and make him sorry if he declares on us. We can annex him instead of Wang.
Engineering seems the next step, even if he have to build landcrapunits.
Two gripes first ~ 1) several units on GoTo's which messed us up only minimally, and 2) the use of sole workers everywhere ~ why not group them together to get some of our improvements up faster. anyway ~
My first turn, what we thought would happen, happened:
Monty had that same stack, and moved it towards Mauryan ~ why is that the AI loves certain cities? First Asoka, now this?? Strange ~
In another bad development for us, the Aztec Xbowmen now have better weapons ~
I had to rush some soldiers west as the city had few defenders. I also dialed down our research after Machinery to upgrade to maces.
Luckily, Monty took his time to bombarding us, and I was able to get our units over there:
Good for us, most died on our walls. Here's us cleaning up the last of them:
And we got another GG:
I settled him at Mainz as seems to be our future military city, and it has not adviser yet. I started to send our units into Aztec lands just north of Mauryan, but this was a mistake.
I had to recall the troops as well, again getting back just in time. I suicided a couple cats already on their mini-stack as it seems they used a spy on our defenses there. It may do well to send in another one or two before pushing enter.
I stopped once Engineering came in:
And i'm not sure where to go next. We hit another milestone, too:
I think we should go after Monty, and take him down for good. It's time to expand the Holy Roman Empire, especially now that we've got the Landsknechts (which must be produced on a 1:1 basis with other land units for now as per the rules). I've got the research set on Feudalism now that I think of it, so perhaps (when we revolt to Vassalage) we can make Monty our vassal. We should at least take Hyangan and maybe whatever city is to the west. I also had a spy moving into aztec lands to check it out more.
What are ya'll's thoughts?

Just to be clear on the variant. If we have (say at random) 30 units now, do we have to have 30 land rovers before we can build anything else, or does the 1:1 ratio apply to troops being built from now. I'm assuming the later, which means 1:1 crapdeisknauts:trebs!
Hmmm, well not so much a spectre as a madman and a talking skull.
I check the save and we have a 2:1 military build, so all good there.
Not sure why we hadn't destroyed Monty's army outside Mauryan, so proceed to do so without any losses before finally pressing enter. His last wounded troop (a pike) retreats back to Aztecia IBT and I follow with alot of troops.
As Feudlaism comes in the ratio of military is at 4:4.
I choose Guilds as next tech (good military unit and helpful economic aid. I also revolt to Vassalage.
My lot of troops is reduced by one catapult.
This deal seems a bit steep but it won't do us any harm and we can always cancel it in peace time when we don't need the hapiness as much.
Finished scouting Monty's territory and decided to steal this. We should revolt next turn to Organised Religion.
I started up Forbidden palace in Mainz.
We're now 3 catapults less of a very large army.
GG is at Ulm, which conviently is our highest production town without a merged GG.
I leave proceedings here. There is an Aztec crossbow in the north of our realm in the forest. He isn't threatening anything yet but need to have an eye kept on him.
We need missionaries in our new cities so send some along. The whip can and should be applied often to our low prod cities in the south.
Monty is gassed I think. Here's a peace deal.
I would hold off for the moment, take Hsung-Nu (as ir gives us a front against Asoka) and then turn our eyes to Asoka (he may even capitulate by then). We're 4 turns from Guilds and we should have knights to add to the stack. Our military is pretty huge at the moment (could always do with more seige though), so we should be all right against Asoka. Or do we want to finish Wang off first, do we want to completely finish Monty over first?
We have most Ep against Wang at the moment, so I've sent the spy there.
Looking at it closely, Wang might be the better choice. They both seem to have the same tech lead over us but Wang is smaller, thus easier to handle.
Checking the F1 screen before I finish sees a 4:4 ratio of military builds
Incredibaly there is room for a new city or two around the place if we want to.
Points of discussion as I see them...
Take peace deal now? (no, take Hsung-Nu as a minimum)
Are we looking to vassalize or destroy? (vassals for me but willing to make an exception for Monty)
