we're not playing any set turn limits ~ just play to a 'significant' stopping point. maybe when the settler is done if its around 15-20 turns or so.

also, we don't need to build those bldgs ASAP ~ every city, though, NEEDS to have them ~ part of the flavor :yup:

so further thoughts after checking out the save ~

i was thinking maybe we should swap from BW to Agr to be albe to farm that wheat to grow faster. and i think we should towards Wang, too. someone wanna do a dotmap (since mine suck)?

Yeah, I think we head towards Wang as well. My dotmapping also sucks.

I played through only 12 turns until the settler was ready to go, I kept with Bronze Working but think Agri should be next.

Our two warriors and scout continued the exploration of the continent with the only notable discovery being Asoka’s bit of turf to the far north. A few panthers lions and bears bit the dirt during the exploration. The scout could do with healing

The settler was ready in 2450BC, Stonehenge is queued up and by working cows, stone and wheat will be done in 10 turns, this could be speeded up by 1 turn by working the grassland hill in place of the wheat.

The AI has suggested two locations for the next city and I’ve done a dot map based on those, they seem to be the best around at the moment, my inclination is to go red, irrigate the flood plains and work some hills as a production city, extra food can be had when we plantation the spices.

If we want to go up towards Wang then we are heading into the jungle.

Hard to give a piece of good advise for the spot to settle - I always like to have copper on hand pre-selection.
Still, I would rather go north to settle toward Wang, even though I think the southern spot is better. We need to block the lands before Wang starts to expend in our direction.

What about 2n of the stone. Can capture fish and cow. Blue dot is nice but we need to grab the land north first. After Stonehenge we should spit another settler to grab copper if needed.

    @Oz
Heavy overlap as for me. Still a city for the cows is more than advisable on the short term - land crab!

If we are going north then this is how i would try to set the cities out, i've given up on the Phants but each of these would have at least one food resource.

there would be a lot of jungle to clear and production wise they are pretty pour

comments are welcome of course :)

Yellow dot, I'd put 1E. Otherwise, I like the planning. All those sites will be hard to grab - make sure we settle at least the blue and the yellow fisrt - hoping Wang won't send his guys through the desert to grab behind the lines.

As for me, the coast is not the priority - even if we lose that milky way grass cow.

I'd move pink 1S to grab horsies and yellow 1W to grab bananas left from moving pink. The 1W yellow would have 2 bananas, 2 dye and rice. Nice.

This is Oz's suggestion and i think it is better than mine,

i would suggest that yellow and red are the important city locations, i'd send the warrior/settler towards yellow and then do another warrior/settler after stonehenge for red.

i'm hoping Wang will head north away from the jungle

Of course this may change when copper appears

Red 1NW if Wang doesn't settle the Phants? If we get SH and religion there fast I think we could make a try for the rice.

that rice at red dot will most likely never get used unless/until we take Wang's capital. I like a city 2 N of the cows, there on the coast, for a city right in wang's face. I would also maybe rush another settler and settle just W of the 2 ivory, and get those, the rice, bananas and sugar, AND hems in WK even more! Maybe settle that first, but maintenance will be tough, until the rathaus of course.

I like the Ad Hoc/Ozbenno city placement as is, I'm not sure I would move to get the elephants with those cities.

I'd like to play MP some time, but my schedule is so hit or miss that it's not an easy thing to do.

Iron Working becomes a priority if we settle north, I assume? That southern city possibility is easier to get up to speed, and looks like decent production. Maybe that should be city #3 after we set up a Wang blocker?

okay, let's nail down the next city's location, so that we can get some more turns going.

I vote for the yellow, quickly followed by the red from Ad Hoc's post 71. Others weigh in, and Quotey's UP NOW ~ see if you can chop/whip a settler w/escort in 15 or so turns; that can be your set length.

Got it, will play tommorow. Or maybe today.

Also, you have me as on deck on the roster. But Ad Hoc just played, so I know I'm up.

It turns out my game had decided to reset the ini file. No screenies :(

    Turn 0 (62)

Everything is fine. Start settler on teh long trip to Ad Hoc's yellow dot.

    Turn 2 (64)

We killed 3 Lions on the IT. Our scout killed one. Scout? What? I didn't move him! Is he on a goto or something? Anyway, a Warrior gets his W2 promotion.

    Turn 7 (69)

Bronze Working comes in. Star on Ag since IW would take 32 turns. And copper? It appears in yellow dot's fat cross! Yeah right.

We have one realistically claimable source, in the fat cross of blue dot. 2N of the cows.

However, I will still settle yellow, as it is possible we could lose it. I don't expect an AI to get blue dot.

    Turn 8 (70)

Barb archer looms on the horizon. 2 tiles away. One of those shocks, isn't it?

So I settle blue dot. I hope you won't hate me for this, but warriors will not cut it for excorts anymore.

    Turn 10 (72)

We complete Stonehenge, settle blue dot and an Archer kills our W2G1 Scout :( 2/3 ain't bad.

    Prague -> Warrior
Aachen Stonehenge -> Settler (Barracks still queeueued)

    Turn 11 (73)

You know when I said Aachen Stonehenge -> Settler? Forgot to do it.

    Aachen Barracks (kyood) -> Worker

    Turn 14 (76)

Honest to god, I was SURE I swithed Aachen to a worker. I DO IT NOW.

    Turn 16 (78)

Wang settles on the Westernmost Phant. I am regretting not going for yellow dot. Red dot is fine to settle if we wish.

    Turn 17 (79)

Monty gets a slave revolt in the capital. He'll just rip out their hearts.

I stop here after Ag completes. Now I'll slink away while everyone wonders whether settling blue was a good idea.

Research is set in IW. Worker is currently roading towards Prague.
