I plan to play at about 1900GMT tomorrow. For clarification, could advisors please post their gameplans.

Things that spring to mind are:
What to start building in TF and MD? (currently set to settlers)
Are we sending the Dellham settler to RM, and what do we build next?
Do we send the legion to RM?
What to build in Civvium and Castle Jayne?
What to do with the RC dip, and what to build next?
How much and where to IPRB?
    Anything else?

    Thanks

I'd like the legion now heading for RM to go to Elysium, it can be disbanded there when necessary to rush the completion of colossus. The chariot in Reneaux or Dellham (can't remember where it is can be put right between RM and Dellham on the river: it can move fast in the case of an emergency.

Not at all sure that I like disbanding a legion!
Admittedly all these foot soldiers will grow up to be musketeers with Leo's but for the (lengthy) time being the legion is the best offensive soldier and will be very important in either intimidating the AI or in crushing barbarians in our lands. The chariot can already make it betwen Reneaux and Dellham from where it is on the river so I don't think we need to move it between the two cities where it will be nothing to either.

Jayne said that she wants to play this evening (in only a couple of hours) so can those advisers who are here now please give her the summaries to use. :D
For science we seem to be going for Trade (currency, trade), with any of the techs leading to Philosophy as back-ups if these aren't available (literacy, mysticism, philosophy). :goodjob:
Domestic Gary can do better than I and the other two don't need any attention until we meet some bad guys.

If we meet the Indians/Vikings demand tribute immediatley. Swap only techs on the path to our goals and give them only useless techs. Then, after te diplomatic niceties, DECLARE WAR!!! :mwaha:

My Queen, your City Naming plan has been approved by the people, and has my seal of approval as well, although that may not be worth the paper it is printed on.

First, please move the 3 workers off the Science Specials, and IPRB $2 in Reneaux to speed those Settlers. M2 founds a city, and begins production of Settlers.

Generally, the polls are for Settlers like Rabbits, and to spend $gold rarely.

Rush $11 the Diplomat in Regia Civitas? The people say no, but I say, "Yes". We cannot spend money so wisely on either the Little Nemo Settler, nor the Temple of Regia Civitas.

Only 2/8 votes for IPRB $11 every other turn. So, perhaps IPRB $8 every 3rd turn?

And although unsure of the Celebration Issue, we'll build a Temple in Regia Civitas, just in case. Then what? Wonder or Diplomat? My guess is the people will want another Diplomat.

Nearly half the votes, 3/8 for: Warrior in Little Nemo to move: to Elysium Colossus? Ok, but we may wish we had it RC for a bit first. Queen, the people feel this Warrior is available.

Clearer, 4/8: Warrior in TFalls to move: to Civvium? So we feel these units are available. Mordhiem, the best way to use the Warrior is to guard Civvium, an unlikely target near the South Pole, so Civvium can quickly build ... a Settler, eh?

In 7 turns, The Little Nemo Settler will appear. It can move 1 East, and build a Road for use by Regia Civitas. In the mean time, the new RC people could perhaps work the ocean. Having completed that one road, I recommend it Road the GrassLandShield NW of Little Nemo, then proceed to F2 and found a city. Could this city be ... "Nemo's Way" ? Citizens?

In the North, we have a returning Legion, now near the River. It can escort the Dellham Settlers quickly down the River (no irrigation yet), to found River Mouth, Castle Jayne, milord. The Castle will then begin to quickly build Settlers, IPRB $4 or $8 as you wish, so those Settlers can quickly begin to improve the land around Elysium. Elysium will grow in 5 turns, and please be sure to order the fresh serfs to work the Forest! Dellham starts more Settlers, as does Marl Downs.

The people preferred my plan to spend gold on the Reneaux Settler. But, they also generally disapproved of spending $much. That Settler can proceed quicky to the North River Mouth, M1, hence the excitement. The cool head view is to spend there, yes. But first, once $11 on the RC Diplomat, and later in Castle Jayne, so as to improve the productivity of our serfs in Elysium.

Finally, we DO NOT recommend disbanding any Legion!

I'm playing again tomorrow at about 1930GMT (2030BST). Could all advisors post their findings ready for me before play. I could do with a concise list of where to move the workers to and from for the 'Colossus Crisis' posted here so I've got everything together. If you're not around tomorrow, post today and if there's a dramatic change of opinion over-night, I can take it into consideration. We get Literacy next turn, so which techs would we prefer? Are we still going down the Philosophy road? Little Nemo is just about to complete a settler. Are we decided on where to build roads/irrigation? Where to settle? What to name the next town?

I'm afraid that the work PCs won't allow me to post a map with Xs on the squares the cities should be working, but here is a copy of the list I posted in the other thread.

    Dellham on whale and water,
Reneaux on wine and river shield,
    Mordheimia on water,
    Marl Downs on water,
RC on the three water specials,
    TF on waters,
LN on roaded grassland shield and water,
    and Civvium on whale.

These will change when the settlers are built, but we can still get as much as possible until then. And please disband the diplomat in Elysium for those much-needed 15 shields.

Once you've done all this then er, press end turn and enjoy the rest! :goodjob:

Philosopher12 hasn't posted on the site since Monday, and with Leo ill then I shall take it upon myself to give some science guidance. :)
We will finish Literacy soon, but with the change of tax rate we will not get that much research done between now and the end of the next turn so that makes my sojourn as stand-in Science Advisor very easy indeed! If we do finish Literacy though, then I think that we should head for the free tech with Philosophy, as we don't urgently need the caravans any more with the new plan to grab the Colossus! We should be looking for trade routes to set up in the near future though, and can hopefully take Trade (or Currency) as our free tech if we get there first. So if we do finish Literacy during the next turn then choose Mysticism, or Currency if that's not available. :goodjob:

Thank you, duke. Science Literacy as agreed, otherwise Currency? And completing that, unlikely, Mysticism, otherwise Currency? I can live with that.

Domestic Business, Draft Plan, I'll be scarce Saturday (I have toddler's coming to visit! I love that / them more than you folks! I won't even finish Gotm20 :( )

Max Tax Rate to 70%, balance to Science 30%. Move all workers to max trade (Duke's plan above). Consider forcing Little Nemo finish its Settler in 2 turns.

Please refer to my opening comments in Turn 900 BC.
Elysium, move whalers to Forest. It will grow, and they'll be back on the Whales! Please supervise the serfs closely, insist on Max Production.
Regia Civitas will grow in 1 turn. When the food box is full, take the Fish and hire Elvis with it. That should keep RC Celebrating non-stop.
Go found River Mouth as Castle Jayne and start a Settler, keep the Legion.

Every turn My Queen, I recommend you visit each city to monitor the Happiness, Food Box and Entertainer situation. It is thus possible to avoid all riots, and so generate cash smoothly for the Colossus Project.

Further, Sir MonkE has raised a valid point about trade. If the workers can generate extra gold by micromanagement, fine. But if the extra gold disappears in corruption, let's use all available production AT THE SAME / BEST Tax yield. Generally, food is the third priority - do not trust the idiot mayors' work assignments! MonkE thinks this applies to the construction of the next Settler at Dellham.

When the Temple of RC completes, I think we must start a Warrior, unless we're researching Mysticism... Second Choice: Library.

I'll try to analyze the polls more carefully, but...

If you get the dreaded message from the Indians, try to decide in advance if it will work before disbanding anything... Disband the Diplomat and hopefully Rush Buy. If needed, disband the supported unit too, in order to Rush Buy. Even the None unit, if we can then get the Colossus! The more turns, the easier it will be. You may be able to avoid disbanding any units, if they just give us a few years...

duke, thanks for stepping in as interim deputy science advisor :) I was concerned that P12 might not get the message, but there was little I could do about it :( Your science suggestions sound great, and receive my stamp of approval (FWIW; LOL). I'm slowly catching up on our current situation and should be able to take over Science Advisor duties after this round of turns.

edit: No change or new posts to the last science poll, so for now we are still on the path to Philosophy. That means research Mysticism next, with Currency as our alternate tech (just as duke o'york suggested :goodjob: ). If, for some reason, neither of these is available, I would suggest Map Making, but that has not been voted upon. I'll get a poll together early next week after you've played this weekend, Jayne.

GaryNemo, thanks for posting your summary of the recent discussions. Based on my own understanding, there is something I'd like to clarify.

This regards the settler build in Dellham discussed in the Aonia Capital Multi-Poll. After GaryNemo suggested a refinement to Duke o' York's worker reassignment plan (LN settler speed-up), I realized that the same logic applies to the Dellham settler build.

A little analysis showed that by simply leaving the Dellham worker assignments unchanged, the settler will complete one turn sooner (assuming the worker assignments last 5 turns).

The 1g income/turn from Dellham would be abandoned, balanced by the income increases in MD & Mord when they grow. There is enough room in the budget so that this does not affect the Colossus timing.

Maybe this isn't a big deal, but some of the citizens have been expressing a very strong desire to build Iron City ASAP. Building it one turn sooner can only be a Good Thing.

Duke's plan is a brilliant inspiration, and I feel that this second refinement further maximizes it's potential.

*End of shameless special interest lobbying attempt*

    Cheers,
    MonkE

Report from the foreign advisor as posted before in the diplomacy thread:

Trade techs and maps if encountering an enemy civ with a weak unit, demand gold as well if encountering an enemy civ with a strong unit (with this units I mean, our unit is strong or our unit is weak).

Don't give away monarchy, bronze working or warrior code, we don't want them to become stronger and wiser.

I've seen nothing about giving gold to avoid war as most seem to like war and see benefits, so never give gold.

I think this represents the opinion of most citizens, if the discussion in the diplomacy thread goes on I will edit this post to meet the will of the people.

    Report for province of Boreum:

Based on citizen votes and discussions I recommend:

    1) Marl Downs settler builds road to M1, then proceed to
    found G2.

    2) Marl Downs to build another settler after current one complete.

    3) Mordheim to switch from Settler to Phalanx for martial law
    purposes, then build a settler.

    4) M1 to build a Phalanx on IPRB basis rushing as much as
    treasury and other demands allow.

Results as of Tuesday night (Oct 8).
There is a strong preference for IPRB speedups (6 out of 8). Efficient $2 or $4 expenditures are recommended.

The will of the people is clear for Castle Jayne: switch to a military unit, then build a settler. The poll offered only the warrior option, but the discussion shows that people clearly favor building a phalanx. Can IPRB $4 this turn. Note: to prevent disorder, hire Elvis the turn BEFORE growth.

Reneaux next build votes: Settlers 4, Military Unit 2 (out of 8). It commonly accepted that the settler finishing next turn will go to found the M1 city. Since only one shield is needed for completion, move one of the River Grassland Shield workers to Wine for one turn to grab a trade bonus.

Dellham next build: Phalanx 4, Settler 3, Archer 1. That's a 5-3 majority for a military unit. Most discussion has favored building Iron City with the settler (2 turns away). No consensus on building roads en route. Note: a third phalanx build would complete in time for Dellham's growth to 3.

    Colonization of Chryshe Lands:
The discussion is wide ranging. There is some debate on the general policy of building filler cities (which your humble governor conditionally supports). The clearest consensus (if any) is that we should expand to the far northern lands as soon as possible. It has been mentioned in another thread that we could possibly encounter a Viking settlement there and should be prepared.

Well, I'm not sure about the Boreum plan, but I delegated, so that's the way it goes. Principally, I wish the MD Settler would begin by building a Road on it's East Shield for its own serfs. Serutan seems like he's willing to defer to other ideas, which I will state if my Queen so requests.

I have posted tentative poll summaries in 2 of the 3 Aonia polls, and will work on the 3rd tomorrow early. Jayne, thanks for giving us an extra Day! Good Night!

Counsellor Nemo, you are further up the chain of command. If you feel strongly against anything your appointed Governers have said, let me know and I shall make a decision based on the relative arguements.

FWIW, I agree with GN that it's worthwhile for the MD settler to road the East Shield.

Our current goal is Philosophy. Once that is achieved, the people have voted to pursue the benefits of trade. So the research queue should look like this:

    Mysticism (currently researching)
    Philosophy
    Currency
    Trade

It is not "official" yet, but most people seem to prefer Map Making as our alternate tech should none of the above be available.

Realized we have not talked about what tech we want to take as our "free" tech when we get to Philosophy (assuming we're the first ones there). I will start a thread for that. If you do reach Philosophy in the next round, you'll have to check that thread to see where discussion is, though at our current discovery rate I suspect we won't quite reach Philosophy yet.
