Plan for Next Turn

    I think we should keep our reputation spotless as long as possible, if only for the easier conduct of war in republic/ democracy.

    Duke says:

    Why would we want to do that? Are you thinking that we may have to attack them during the next turn?

    I think the Duke was joking, at least I hope so...
    We're just gonna demand gold and we have a war so no need to risk the health of any of our units.

    I see. He was talking along the lines of "May I allow you to cut open my chest and take out the heart and two to five additional organs of your choice in order to balance the scales before I begin to kick or otherwise propel your remains into the orbit?".

    A noble idea. Let's do that in the 1800s, with their last city...

    What I actually meant was:

    Once we discover where the Vikings are, we deal with all the matters in our cities, then we contact them by the foreign advisor screen and demand gold, techs, that they get the heck out of our backyard, etc. They either give us the booty or declare war on us. (Probably the latter) Then we attack them with all the units we have yet to move.
    What we do not do is: Move all our troops, talk to them and then let them declare war on us when our demands are not received.

    That seems alright. We don't want to have the army in the field screaming "Kill me! Kill me!" after we have incited the Vikings to declare war. All will be good if we do the baiting before troop movement.

    But when do we bait (the very next move, sometime later or...)?

    - when our troops are approximately a knight's move away from the settler in the following map, just north of Dellham

    My Queen, I have not applied proper attention to this Viking Crisis.

    Found Iron City, name it that, Phalanx Home & Fortify.
    Regia Civitas continues to build Library - 9 turns.
    Wait 2 turns for Elysium to complete its Temple.
      Then Elysium Warrior to Police Gabba Gabba - for a Caravan!
      And Elysium to build a Library.
      And Elysium to keep its stout Legion Guard, I guess...
    Other cities to build Caravans for Copernicus, whenever possible.

    Road Silk, Road to Elysium ...
      NW on Pure Green ok with everyone? It's the quickest job.
    We need Caravans for Cop's, 1-2 Archers at most!
    Generally, Phalanx are obsolete. Build Archers and Caravans.
    New LN Settler to complete Road to RC on GrassLandShield
    Don't Found F4 yet, build several roads for Regia Civitas
    Suggested F4 site is Forest, 3 NW of Regia Civitas.

    Found F3 on Forest S of Hill(name it "F3" for now). Not sure.
    Advantage: Civvium will then grow more quickly, & F3 start a Caravan
    Problem: If we are attacked here, we loose the city.
    Solution: irrigate first (choke Civvium), build City, then guard.
    We are safe, but everything is delayed (horribly, if you ask me)

    Civvium build a Temple after completing Diplomat

    Generally, IPRB smoothly, units needed for Viking War & Northern Guards.

    How to Expand poll has many toss-ups, also good comments.
    The citizens are split, pack in the cities, or build main ones.
    We agree strongly, to guard cities founded on the shore of the AI
    Several people prefer Roads to Cities.
    Noone prefers Diplomats to Cities. So, 2 Dips will have to suffice.

    I'm not convinced waiting a day will improve this plan's clarity.
