Before sending any money to a site like this I'd recommend checking it out and making sure it isn't a scam.

Even if it's not a scam, it is still gambling to some degree. For those of us who are not elite gamers it sounds like a way to burn money, but hey if you have the money you decide how to spend it.

Agree, be cautious. Especially when the "great idea" comes from a new member who never really shown that he/she is a true civ'er. It could be a scam. I'm not joining.

To be honest I don't think it is a scam, but it's gambling in the house's favour, if you like, because the sum of individual entry fees is greater than the prize money. In other words, people will on average be losing money, just like in a real casino.
