Ok, played a good go on epic for several weeks and then just gave up, don't think i will be playing it again.

I think mostly the unit tile limit although strategically interesting at first, it slowly chipped away at my patience, as time goes by, then at the point in the game where i was ready for my cities were finished and should just churn out units, i couldn't find the 'loop' option - in other words, set it to just keep building the same unit, that was the final straw that broke the camels back and i just gave it up at that point.

Modern unit limits are just bizarre, someone slipped up on that one, obviously.

Production seems to be a bit overly nurfed down?

AI docile in late game? Powerful AI Just let me walk over it with almost no counter attacking (with units outside of cities) WTH?????

Everything else was pretty good/excellent, but not enough to entice me back for another go.

Civ V, , FAIL.

Well I certainly hope you find your "gaming love" somewhere, not everyone enjoys Civ V! But please don't call our game a "Fail", we love it! :D

I think this troll post deserves a close.

Listen there is a thread for posts like this. In fact its the only place it's allowed so please post this here http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=401228 and not post this here, Thanks

Don't mind the rabid guard dogs.

If you didn't like it, that's a bummer. I'm not a big fan of the game, albeit for slightly different reasons. There's always Paradox games!

Actually, this is possible, and quite easy to do:

- Click on the city.
- Look down at the bottom left where your current build progress is shown.
- Check the "Show Queue" box
- Now you can queue up to 6 things at once.

And the limits on units you don't like are easy to overcome with good play: settle or fight for cities with oil and aluminum; or make money and get alliances with city states that have those resources; trade/buy those resources from your civ friends.

I think this troll post deserves a close.

Why if someone thinks that the game is not what he expected is a troll exactly and the thread useless?

Try to give him some advice at least as truenarnian did and hope he will rethink about it.

This has been explained above, but I will add to it that UPT is the best thing this game tried to do. At least now we dont have a single stack that destroys entire continents. You need to think about unit placement and movement.

I had the same thoughts at first. No Iron? WTH? Well it forces you to become a better statesman. Trade, war, colonize for it. In fact your empire will be 'shaped' by its attempts to locate and exploit vital resources. Its a limitation that offers more strategic play.

Production seems to be a bit overly nurfed down?

Nope, on the contrary. While PoP is the Alpha and the Omega of an empire (science, gold) you can do nothing with all farms and no hills (for production). In fact if your assembly lines are producing things at an alarming rate you will be alot more ahead of most of the opposition.

Do you have Gods and kings and the latest updates installed? Also you might have experienced that with certain CiVs. I cant understand why Bismark concentrates on Naval warfare for example.

Everything else was pretty good/excellent, but not enough to entice me back for another go.

Civ V, , FAIL.

I wouldn't call it a fail, but a small fun disappointment (up to Gods and Kings that is).

Its because there is a thread for this stuff, and this is spam.

Too all you 'ear blockers' who don't want to hear it, to bad, I have been a member of this site since 2006 ( albeit infrequent) and have always been a big fan of the civ games, i think that entitles me to have my say here.

I have given the game a good run, it is the first Civ game that i have been able to walk away from... the others i was their helpless prisoner, don't you just love it when a game takes your soul! but not so with Civ 5, such a shame, and it is so close, just a those couple of things .... i reckon if the tile unit limit was say 4 units, then i would be back in there for certain!

First off, name calling is not okay, don't call me an ear blocker if I don't want you to spam "I hate civ 5" all over the forum, I don't care that you have been a member since 06.

Now thats out of the way, I have my own gripes with the game as well, but you don't see me running around calling people names. Please go to the rant thread, or stop posting spam, and go back to playing civ 4 and leave us be.

Edit: Just a reminder about forum rules: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=422889

Do i really need to explain that 'ear blocker' is not 'name calling' ... it is an action, such as running around saying how much you would like to stop people having an opinion? (in terms of what rug you would like them to sweep it under on the forum)

I don't quite understand why i cannot make a truthful comment on my experience with the game, without all these attacks (with regard to posting, not the opinion itself)? Since when did this forum turn into some kind of 'smile or shut up' thing? Bizzare? And it's not like i go around making numerous threads, this is my only thread, how can it be spam???

Face it, dude: you're a troll, who fails to respect other opinions. Ok, you didn't have a good experience with civ 5. We civ 5'ers acknowledge that, but shutting out our good opinions of civ 5 just shows you're a troll.

Opinion =/= truth. You're stating your opinion as fact, and that is what trolls do.

However, if you want to have a change of heart, here are a few tips:
- Don't choose epic speed, or production will take ages. Try quick speed, seeing that you prefer a fast experience.
- Try Prince difficulty or harder.
- Choose pangaea for a quicker and more challenging experience, and choose a standard or large map size.
- Try out multiplayer if AI is still too easy, assuming that you have beaten deity.

Moderator Action: Accusing others of trolling amounts to trolling in itself. It's only going to produce a negative response.

I don't believe this is spam since you returned to the thread. Had you not, then I would think otherwise.

That being said, most of your complaints are either vague(modern unit limits?) or due to a lack of game knowledge(queuing up several units). Some were personal preferences(1 UPT) which can't be helped. You either like it or you don't. The (nerfed) production works hand-in-hand with 1 UPT because there needs to be some deterrent to clogging up all the tiles with units too quickly.

The less than friendly replies are likely due to the divisiveness of this board. There are many people who rag on various aspects of this game(1 UPT being most common) and compare Civ 5 to Civ 4 constantly, yet hang around the civ 5 boards all day.

Does the AI do some silly mistakes even in the higher difficulties? Have you tried mp and experience the game with human opponents instead?

I do agree with you in someways, but please, don't call Civ V a fail. It's one of the BEST GAMES EVAH :D
