Played my first game of VP, having only finished a few games of Vanilla ever.

Like the title says, I only completed a few Civ V games ever, and that was several years ago. Played one or two games of Civ 6 but never to completion. Always liked the idea of Civ but didn’t find myself finishing games much.

A few weeks ago I broke out my computer and fired up Civ V just to give it another try. It was fun, but again I didn’t finish a game after two tries. Then I stumbled onto VP. Wow. Changed so much and especially the happiness system. For a warmonger like myself, this was everything. I could never keep happiness to a workable level in the mid and late game. Also the tooltips are incredible and explain almost everything, so much better and makes the game much easier to engage with rather than get bored and tedious feeling.

Started my first game of VP a couple weeks ago, playing as the Inca, 8 civs, fast speed, Pangea. Played on Warlord because it says that is the “normal” difficulty. Finished that game with a domination win, and I loved it.

Cheers to everyone involved in this Mod, and for keeping it thriving over the years for me to come and find it in 2024. Brings me back to the counter strike days when that game was a free mod for Half Life - very cool that people dedicate their time to making an awesome game and giving it away for others to enjoy.

Once you play VP you can never play any other version of Civ again. The AI is the best ever made being reason enough alone.
This is very accurate. I had played early VP versions and then took a break for a while. Probably 2 years or so. After firing it back up and installing the latest updates. Version 3 something at the time.....war was a bit different. It took me a while to get used to it, but once I did and the tactics made sense, I was hooked for good.

Now with supply rework and 4UC upcoming, I can easily forget that there is a Civ 6 and an upcoming Civ 7. 4UC!!!! Who even thought that was possible when the game first started getting modded. VP modders...that's who. I am constantly amazed at how they have basically made the game their own now. I won't ever miss an opportunity to recognize their skill and dedication.
